When the weather was cool in the Fall and Spring evenings, we used to host outdoor movies. We would invite family, friends and neighbors and everyone brought chairs or blankets to sit on and snacks to enjoy. My husband would bring his huge projector home from work and we’d show a movie on a sheet hanging down from the back deck of the house. It was always so much fun and became a regular event that everyone looked forward to.
We ended up stopping last Spring because we were having so many problems with my husband’s work projector. It started overheating and would turn off suddenly during the movie. Even when it worked through the end of the movie, it was heavy and awkward to balance well outside and was a pain to try to connect to speakers. We ended up having so many problems that we finally just stopped planning outdoor movie nights.
So when I was given the chance to review the 3M Mobile Projector, I got really excited. I’ve been wanting to start movie night up again this Fall, so it would be great to have a nice projector to use.
The 3M Mobile Projector was easy to use right out of the box. It comes with the projector, a cord to recharge the battery and a cord to connect the projector to your iPad, iPhone or iPod. There’s a detailed instruction book and a quick start guide, but I didn’t need to use them since everything was so user friendly. I looked over the projector, plugged it in to charge the battery and within 5 minutes of opening the box was ready to make popcorn and get ready for the show.
It ended up storming on movie night, so the girls each invited one friend to come over and watch the movie inside. My husband set up his huge screen and everyone picked a cozy kids’ chair. The projector was really easy to use and the speakers were loud enough and clear for everyone to hear. I imagine that we’ll end up using our additional speakers when we show the movie outside since the movie will need to be louder, but they’ll plug easily into the audio output plug when we need them. And with 2 hours of battery time, we’ll have plenty of time to show the entire movie outside.
I can already imagine so many uses for the 3M Mobile Projector. Besides movie nights, we can also share home movies with family and show the kids pictures projected on the wall (instead of three kids all climbing on top of me to see better!). I also can’t wait for the girls to have a sleepover. I know they’ll have a blast being able to lie with their friends on sleeping bags while they watch a movie projected up on the ceiling. So cool!
My husband is also looking forward to using the mobile projector. Besides having fun with it and playing computer games on the wall, he’s also looking forward to having a much better projector for work. Instead of lugging a heavy, complicated projector that overheats and doesn’t work very well, he can easily use the 3M Mobile Projector. He’s thrilled about how small and easy to use it is!
