I never had a Barbie growing up as a child. So when my little girls started to play with dolls, I always bought the bigger “life-size” dolls. Then my older daughter got a Barbie for a birthday present and we realized why little girls love them so much. They’re so much easier to dress, move around and play with. Not to mention the cool clothes, accessories and fun play sets that go along with them!
So when we got the chance to have a Barbie – The Princess and The Popstar party, my girls were really excited. All of their friends love Barbie, love princesses and love popstars (the little kid version, anyway), so it sounded like a lot of fun for the kids. The girls each invited a few of their friends and we planned the coolest Barbie party ever.
We got lots of fun snacks and purple decorations to match our new Barbie Goodies:
After the kids arrived, they had a seat at the table and had snacks while we started the movie Barbie: The Princess & The Popstar. The movie is almost an hour and a half, so we let the girls watch it for a little while, then lay in the background during the party. There are some fun songs in the movie, so it was nice to have them playing while the kids enjoyed the dolls.
The cutest thing was watching the girls checking out the Barbie table. I had all of the dolls and the castle set up on a table while the kids snacked and they couldn’t stop looking at everything. They were soooo excited about playing with the Barbies!
After everyone arrived and finished their snacks, it was time to play!
The Princess and The Popstar” Lights & Music Castle is awesome. All of the kids had such a great time playing with it. Both of the staircases light up and play a tune when a Barbie walks down the stairs. The girls really liked that!
.
.
There’s also a button at the base of the stairs that can be pushed to light up both sides and play a longer song.
.
The Fairy dolls were a great size to play with the Barbie castle too. The girls were so excited to find out that they each got to take one home with them!
The larger Tori and Keira dolls play music and change appearance, like in the movie we were watching. With just a little twist, both girls change their hair color and dresses from Princess to Popstar and back. And with a touch of their necklaces, each doll ‘sings’ 2 songs from the movie.
Everyone had such a great time playing with the Barbie: The Princess & The Popstar dolls, fairies and castle. They ended up playing much longer than we’d planned for the party, so we had to promise to have them all over to play together again soon.
As the girls left, they each got to pick their very own Barbie: The Princess and The Popstar Fairy Small Doll and were thrilled!
