Have you ever heard a song in a movie or a television show and just had to know more about it? I felt that way about the song “Let me Sign”, which was sung by Robert Pattinson in the movie Twilight. The writer of that song was Bobby Long, an amazing British singer-songwriter who recently released his studio debut CD “A Winter Tale”.

I was recently given the opportunity to review “A Winter Tale”. With hauntingly poetic lyrics, Bobby Long’s songs are all beautiful and memorable. He’s been compared to artists like a young Bob Dylan and contemporaries like Damien Rice and Mumford & Sons.

At first glance, Bobby Long might seem like some other male artists out right now. He’s good looking, with a laid back style and a shock of brown hair hanging down into his blue eyes. Similarities to other “pretty boy” singers end there, however. Long is clearly an artist with impressive writing, singing and guitar-playing talent, not just an over-produced music prop.

I was immediately charmed by Bobby’s raspy voice on “A Winter Tale” and now, two weeks later, have added all of the songs to my playlist. The songs all flow easily into one another and each is as beautiful as the next. They make me want to put on the CD and relax by a fire with a cold beer. Since that rarely happens with three little children, I’ve settled for listening to it while working around the house or driving in the car.

Here is one of my favorites “Dead & Done”.
