As you may remember, a few weeks ago we participated in a Champion For Kids project with our local Brown Bag Ministry. I’m happy to say that we’ll be working on another campaign this month, the Energizer Light Up A Life project.
For the Energizer Light Up A Life campaign, we’ll be putting together a winter care kit for a local family. In this part of North Carolina, the majority of our weather emergencies during winter come from ice. There just isn’t enough snow and ice every year to justify huge fleets of trucks and equipment, so whenever there is there is a snow or ice storm, it can take a while before power is restored and help can get to outlying areas. We’re planning to put together a kit to help a family get through that period with some basic emergency items.
For our area, an emergency kit can contain:
- band-aids
- hand wipes
- tissues
- flashlights
- batteries
- bottled water
We’ll be getting our winter care kit together over the next week and will share the project with you when we’re finished. If you’d like to make your own emergency kit to donate to a family or community group, check out the Champions For Kids website to learn more.
