With the weather getting warmer, we’ve been spending more time outside doing activities with our kids. They’ve been showing an interest in gardening and plants, so we’ve started doing small projects with them. We don’t have a lot of space in the yard for a garden, so small scale DIY garden projects are perfect for us.
Miracle-Gro’s The Gro Project has some great ideas for getting kids excited about gardening and making things grow. Instead of taking on a complicated or time-intensive garden, try one of these fun garden projects with your little ones.
This DIY Garden Toyarium is an easy, fun project that is perfect for our new little gardeners. It’s a great way to encourage their passion for learning new things and to start off at a level that’s just right for children.
Pick up some Moisture Control Potting Mix, a fun glass container, rocks, a plant and a spoon. Have your children choose some of their favorite plastic figurines for the Toyarium and get started!
Add rocks to the bottom of the container and then fill halfway with Miracle-Gro Potting Mix. Dig and add your plant and then create a fun scene with your kids’ plastic toys.
That’s it. So easy and so fun!
Be sure to check out Miracle-Gro’s Shake n’ Feed Moisture Control All Purpose Plant Food and Moisture Control Potting Mix for indoor and container plants and the LiquaFeed All Purpose Plant Food Advance Starter Kit for in-ground plants. You’ll be amazed at the difference in your plants!

Such a great idea, my girls have a problem growing things. They always seem to kill all the plants they touch. This would be much better for them.

The The Miracle-Gro Toyarium is a great way to add a splash of fun to gardening for the kids. A great way to get them involved early where they will appreciate gardening later in life.

I would love to make this awesome project with my niece. Make one for her and myself. I never thought of using a fish bowl. I have used Miracle Gro products for years. I have used the fertilizer and rose bush fertilizer and it really makes my grass green and my roses so healthy.

We have to try this with my grandson. He planted a few outdoor plants and had such a great time doing it. This would be fun for him, not to mention, we do have a fish bowl not being used.
