Kitchen Shortcuts and Time Saving Tricks

disclosure Have you ever come across a product that made so much sense, that you just thought “Yes!”. You wonder why no one thought of it before. It’s that awesome.

That’s what I thought when I discovered Mueller’s Pot-Sized Pasta.

Mueller's Pot Sized Pasta

No more breaking spaghetti in half to fit it into the pot.

No more poking the spaghetti down in the water with a spoon, trying to bend it all until it fits down in the pot.

It’s pasta that was created to fit in your pot. Brilliant!

So when I’m making a pasta dinner on a hectic weeknight, that’s one less step I have to deal with. Love it!

And the kids love that same great Mueller’s pasta taste in their favorite Parmesan Noodles:

Mueller’s Pot-Sized Pasta makes so much sense! Why have I been using pasta that was too long for so many years?

It’s the ultimate kitchen shortcut. And I’m always a fan of shortcuts that make life a little bit easier, aren’t you?

Here’s another fun kitchen shortcut that we love to use in our family.

Kitchen Tricks and Hacks - Sliced Apples

Pre-sliced apples!

Instead of the kids only eating tiny bites of their lunch apple, or them having to eat browned apple slices, I send the apples like this.

Kitchen Shortcut – Pre-sliced Apples

Slice the apple into sections.

Piece the slices back together to make the apple whole.

Use a thick rubber-band (narrow ones roll off) to hold the slices in place until ready to eat.

That’s it! Super easy and perfect for lunchboxes, picnics or a juicy snack at the office.

  4. Neat idea! I used to slice up the apples for my daughter’s lunch box and then float them in Sprite or 7Up to keep them from browning.

  9. I love that they make pot-sized pasta! And really love the apple shortcut. Do you need to use lemon juice, to keep the slices from browning?

  10. Where do you find this brand? I have never seen it.. I live in the west, I know different areas
of the US carry different brands. This would be great not to have to break it up, you always end up with little pieces all over the stove and cupboard as they pop off when breaking them in half.

  11. I’ll take any and all time saving tips I can get! I plan on trying your apple trick in the kids’ lunches next week.

  12. That’s an awesome tip! I really hate it when my apples turn all brown, so I’m definitely going to use a rubber band the next time I have an apple, thanks!

  18. Sandra VanHoey says:

I must say the apple sliced already is an exellent idea. I think my greeat nephew takes an apple and takes just a bite or two from it and leaves it or throws it back in his lunchbag. He would like this having it sliced like they do at home.

  19. Wow I am loving that apple trick! I would have never thought of that. Also great pot sized noodles as well. I am always a fan of saving time! :)

  20. joanna garcia says:

Everytime i break my pasta in half i wonder if the italians would frown about it! this is great and love the idea of the apples! GENIUS!

  21. Dorothy Teel says:

Gosh look at all the time I can save by buying this pot size pasta from the time it takes to break regular pasta, to cleaning up the floor and the counter from the pieces that fly all over when breaking, and I think it is a wonderful idea, now if the bread makers would come up with half size loaves of bread I would be happy. I love the apple idea, have never heard of it, but I agree brown apples are gunky will try this with granddaughter

  22. I just picked up a pot sized box of pasta the other day, haven’t tried it yet, but thought it was a great idea!

  23. Your presliced apple idea is brilliant! I am doing that with my son!

  24. love the presliced apple! Great idea to save some time during the day

  25. For the pasta, you can also add in the time savings for not having to clean up all the broken  spagetti’s that landed on the floor!  I like the apple idea, I often have apples that end up wrinkling up because the only way I eat them is slicing them first, and just don’t have the time at the moment I would have them! I never thought of that!

  26. Julie Wood says:
