Halloween is such a fun time in our family.
Notice, I don’t say a fun “day”, because we stretch the holiday out for weeks every year. The kids love to help put up creepy decorations inside the house and out, and we spend hours shopping for the perfect costumes for each child.
Then, as the actual day arrives, we put on spooky music, turn on the orange lights and get huge bowls of candy ready for the trick-or-treaters. And, of course, we make sure our scary stuffed guy is sitting in his rocker waiting to greet everyone.
.
Since we live in a new neighborhood full of young families, there are a lot of kids out at Halloween. We easily see over a hundred children come through every Halloween.
Because it gets so crazy and busy, I always end up manning the door while my husband takes the kids out trick-or-treating. That means that I have to get a few pictures of the kids in their costumes before they head off into the night. Here’s one shot I got with my awesome Panasonic LUMIX G7 before everyone raced off in search of candy.
The kids all had a blast and ended up with way too much candy at the end of the night. My husband and I enjoyed seeing them so excited and having so much fun.
Since Halloween fell on Saturday this year, we decided to continue the family fun on Sunday with a trip to a local farm. I didn’t get many trick-or-treating photos this year, so I was determined to get great shots on the trip. I brought my LUMIX G7 along to capture the fun.
It was drizzling outside a little, so there was hardly anyone there other than our family. Whenever we’ve been in the past, there have always been hundreds of kids running around, so it was awesome to have the place to ourselves!
The kids wanted to feel the animals first. We fed goats, sheep, rabbits, ducks, turtles and fish.
Next, the kids raced each other in huge pipes called “Rat Racers”. They loved rolling them super fast and then sliding up and down along the sides of the pipes.
We were able to have our own personal hay ride! The tractor driver took us on a super-long hay ride all over the farm. We got to go through the woods and around several lakes, then to a pumpkin field to pick out pumpkins. I loved this part!
Finally, the kids headed over to the in-ground tube slide. It’s a crazy-long slide that starts at the top of a hill, goes underground, then pops out at the bottom. They loved being able to go over and over without waiting in line, so I hung out at the bottom, listening to them laugh and scream, and taking pictures.
I’m so thankful to be able to enjoy these special moments with my husband and kids. We had a wonderful weekend, full of memories that we’ll cherish for years to come.
And to help us remember all of the fun activities we enjoyed, I was happy to have my Panasonic LUMIX G7 along. It’s lightweight and compact because it’s DSLM (Mirrorless), so it was easy to carry with me wherever I needed it and still get awesome image quality. And with the touch-enabled monitor, 4K Ultra HD Video and 4K Photo Modes, I knew I’d be able to get every single second of the fun!
