Stress-Free Mornings

My absolute favorite cereal growing up was Rice Krispies. I loved the flavor, the crispness and the crackle after pouring on the milk. And now that I have kids, I see that it’s their favorite cereal too. All three of my kids love Rice Krispies and could eat them every day if possible.

Stress Free Mornings with Rice Krispies

As a mom, I love how easy Rice Krispies are in the morning. Things can get hectic before school, so I do everything I can to keep things as simple and stress-free in the mornings as possible. That means getting much of the work done the night before.

Stress-Free Mornings

  • Clothes - Choose outfits for each child the night before. Make sure that all accessories, socks, underwear, sweaters, etc. are clean and ready to put on in the morning.  My children wear uniforms, but as easy as that sounds, it can still be a struggle in the morning. One daughter prefers skirts and blouses while the other wants only jumpers and shirts and it’s not a battle I want in the morning. So I make sure I have the entire outfit ready, from head to toe, the night before.
  • Paperwork - I check the children’s backpacks before they go up to get ready for bed at night. Any homework that should be finished, any notices from the school that need to be initialed or permission slips that need to be signed are all completed and back in the backpacks the night before school. Backpacks then sit by the front door.
  • Meals - Anything that I can prepare ahead of time for the next day’s snacks and lunches, I do the night before. There are some things that I prefer to do the morning of (sandwiches that get soggy or fruits/vegetables that wilt or discolor), but I do the majority of preparation the evening before. I have the lunchboxes waiting in the fridge for the last one or two items, which saves a lot of time in the morning. I also stick to easy and healthy breakfasts. The girls can pour their own cereal, so we often leave bowls, spoons and a box of Rice Krispies out on the table. My older daughter pours the milk and many mornings they are already eating and chatting when I come down with their baby brother.

With the majority of school tasks completed the evening before, our mornings are a lot less stressful and rushed. The kids have more time to enjoy their breakfasts and talk to each other as they get prepared for a busy day at school. And a huge bonus – everyone leaves the house in a better mood when we’re not rushing around in the morning!

Moms like me want a healthy and easy breakfast for kids in the morning. Fortified with 11 essential vitamins and minerals, Rice Krispies contains the nutrition children need for the long school day ahead. I have such wonderful memories of Rice Krispies every day before school as a child and hope my children have those magic back-to-school breakfast memories when they get older.
