When we moved into our house several years ago, everything was new. It was so nice to have brand new carpet and new paint on the walls – everything was so clean. Now that we’ve lived here a few years, there are scuffs on the wall and the carpets are pretty dingy. I’ve been wanting to have the main rooms repainted, but with the toddler boy touching everything in sight, I decided to wait another year or so.
The carpets are a different story. I knew they needed to be cleaned, but I just didn’t want to hire cleaners. The last time I hired a carpet cleaning service, it was such a bad experience. The cleaners were hours late, then cleaned around the furniture instead of moving it, and they didn’t even get a lot of the stains up. It was almost as if they skimmed over the carpet a little and sprayed air freshener to make the rooms smell nice. I’ve definitely been reluctant to try that again.
So when I got the chance to review the Bissell LIFT-off Deep Cleaner, I was so excited. I’d love to be able to clean my carpets whenever I want. With a Bissell Deep Cleaner, I could get tough stains up or periodically clean all of the carpets in the house!
When it arrived, I was worried about putting it together. But after unpacking the entire box, there were only a few pieces. Just attach the handle to the machine with the 4 included screws and pop on the attachments.
I got the cleaner together in just minutes and was ready to go. But before cleaning, I had one more thing I wanted to do.
I wanted to take the white sock test. To see how clean your carpets are, just wet some clean white socks and then move them back and forth across your high traffic carpet area. After about 30 seconds, check to see how white your socks are.
I’m embarrassed to show the result, but here are my socks after the White Sock test on our carpets:
I knew that I needed to clean the carpets, but honestly had NO idea they were that gross. I can’t believe I let the baby crawl all over that last year. Now I’m even more excited about using the Bissell Lift-Off Deep Cleaner!
To see what a difference the Bissell cleaner makes on my carpet, I decided to do a stripe right down the middle of our traffic area. Here is what it looks like after a few passes right down the center with the Bissell Lift-Off Deep Cleaner.
I’m planning to do even more passes over it with the Bissell, but you can clearly see the difference in our carpet. I’m so impressed!
Here are a few facts about the Bissell Lift-Off Deep Cleaner:
- Portable spot cleaner cleans stairs, car interiors and more
- Surround Suction® for edge-to-edge cleaning
- Built-in hot water heater for maximum cleaning
- Includes stain tool for hard-to-reach areas
- 12 cleaning rows on 2X DirtLifter® Powerbrushes

I can’t wait to clean the rest of the carpets in our house. I’ll even be able to pop the portable spot cleaner off and do the stairs! I absolutely love the BISSELL Lift Off Deep Cleaner. 🙂

Wow! That is impressive. I don’t have a ton of carpet in the house but to be honest, all we’ve done is vacuum since we don’t wear shoes upstairs. It could def. use a deep clean : ) Oh…I can’t tell…does it use water?
Mickey says
Yes! You fill up the clean water container with hot water and then turn the machine on for a minute while it heats up the water even more (very cool!). Then after the water is used, it goes into the dirty water container, which you just pop off and dump. Then start over. It’s amazing how different my carpets look.

Wow. We only have carpets in the baby’s room and upstairs (girl’s room). I hate how gross they get and you don’t notice as easily as you would hardwood or linoleum. I don’t own a carpet cleaner but I’d love to. We’ve had to rent one twice already and we probably would have saved our money had we just bought one. (don’t be embarassed by your socks, you wouldn’t want to see mine)

I even took that picture when the carpet was still drying. Now that it’s dry, the stripe is even lighter and more obvious. I’ve done the rest of the room, but want to take a new picture of the difference in the before and after. It’s shocking.
