Love.
Life.
Loss.
For the first time in my life, I hid in a pantry today as a tornado passed by. My husband and I held onto our three small children and listened. We listened to the storm reports on the television and we listened for the sound of the oncoming tornado. As we reassured our children and told them everything would be fine, I wondered to myself if we would be able to hold them tight enough if we were in the direct path of the tornado.
We were spared. We ended up getting a bad storm with hail, some limbs down and a short power outage. A lot of families in our city and surrounding areas weren’t so lucky. Many people lost their homes and some lost their lives.
I’m heartbroken for them, for their kids, for their pets. I’m praying for them tonight.

My prayers go out to everyone involved. My family experienced a similar situation 2 years ago. Somehow, the tornado literally jumped over my parents’ house. Most of the houses surrounding them were completely torn apart. I’m so glad you and your children are safe and sound.
Wow. I am so glad you are okay. We had storms here in GA last night too but once again were spared from the terrible storms. So glad you were too. They can be so scary and reassuring your children is so hard to do when you’re not sure of the outcome yourself.
Glad to hear you are ok. I have no words. Praying for the others.
OH MY! I am soooo glad you’re okay! We had storms and were under a warning, but we didn’t have any tornadoes. I practice with my dd what we should do if we hear a siren, but hope that we never have to really do it. How absolutely frightened you must have been!!! My heart goes out to you too, because while you didn’t lose all those things that others did, you did lose a little part of your innocence, knowing that it could really have been you. It’s such an eye-opening experience. Hope you never have to do that again. Hugs!
Sending prayers for your neighbors and community – being raised in South Georgia I know that feeling all to well. Glad to hear you’re ok!
I’m so glad y’all are ok! Sending prayers to everyone who was affected.
My prayers will be with these families! Gosh, I can’t even imagine!

I am so happy that your family was spared this terrible disaster. The images on TV are heartbreaking. My thoughts and prayers go out to the victimes, their families and the devastated communities.
Thank you, everyone, for the kind words. At the last count, there were 22 people killed in North Carolina alone. Please keep them and their loved ones in your thoughts and prayers.
I can’t even imagine! I’m a nervous wreck over earthquakes ever since Japan’s recent earthquake and tsunami. I think because this time around my children watched footage with me and asked questions. They didn’t know much about New Zealand, Haiti, Chile . . . so many major ones! We’re in the “Ring of Fire.” The earth, she is a powerful force to wreaking with! I’m glad your family was spared, and sad others were not. Take care!
Oh my goodness! Glad you’re ok! That is so scary!
Thanks for the blog over at dandelion paperweight!
