I had a very difficult time potty training my first child. In retrospect, I think I was trying too hard and ended up stressing my daughter and myself out. I ended up trying lots of different methods, from rewards of candy to incentives like sticker charts. In the end, taking a break of a couple of months ended up being what we needed. My daughter no longer had to win the battle of wills since I wasn’t bugging her (or even really talking about it) anymore. She came to me one day and asked if she could use the potty. Yay!
With my second daughter, I remembered the lessons I’d learned the first time around. I showed her the potty, read some potty books from time to time and kept her in Pull-Ups Training Pants all day long. Beyond that, I didn’t do much until she really started showing some interest. She eventually started talking about wanting to use the big girl bathroom like her sister and started using the potty the same week.
She’s been completely potty-trained for a couple of years now, but still wears Huggies Pull-Ups at night. She’s a very sound sleeper (just like her Daddy!) and just does not wake up during the night. She doesn’t wake up when she needs to go to the bathroom and she doesn’t wake up even if she’s had an accident. After talking to the Pediatrician, we found out that nighttime wetting is still very normal at her age and we could just go back to using Pull-Ups for a while – so we did.
So right now I have a daughter in Pull-Ups at night for nighttime training and a toddler boy in Pull-Ups during the day for potty training.
Yep, we’re potty training number 3! We’ve just started potty training my 2 year-old son. Some days he’s interested and some days he is absolutely not. He loves wearing Pull-Ups, though, because he knows that ‘big boys’ wear them. So we’ve been putting him in Pull-Ups during the day to make attempts in the bathroom much easier.
I like that the easy-open sides make changing him really easy since we’re just starting to potty train. I don’t have to struggle with tearing the sides apart while he’s trying to get away and go play. I also like that the Pull-Ups are softer and comfortable. My son has complained in the past about not liking some diapers and he loves wearing the Pull-Ups, so I know they’re comfortable on him. And my daughter will sometimes completely forget to change out of her clean Pull-Up in the morning since it fits so well and feels comfortable on.
Pull-Ups are comfortable for playing:

And comfortable for dancing!

But best of all, Pull-Ups are marked down! The Pull-Up prices have been rolled back at Walmart to $8.97, so we stocked up!
The price is rolled back in stores and online, so I placed a big order online for Pull-Ups for both kids:
But since we were running low, I headed out and bought one pack of Cars Pull-Ups for my son and a pack of Princess Pull-Ups for my daughter to use until the delivery comes.
The kids both actually care a lot about the designs, so I’m thrilled that Pull-Ups has designs we love. My daughter loves Princesses, so the Cinderella design is awesome. And my toddler boy wants anything and everything that is car-related, so having “Big Boy” Pull-Ups with the Cars design on them makes him smile. 🙂
Be sure to take advantage of the great low Rollback prices at Walmart right now! Stock up on your favorite Pull-Ups and save in stores or online.
What about you? Do you have any potty training tips you’d like to share? 🙂

We love Huggies products and my son likes the Cars pull-ups a lot.
The potty training years are a distant memory now but I loved using all of the Huggies products on my kids when they were little.
We have used the mats for incontinent adults with my daughter, but haven’t used Pull-Ups with her for night-time accidents because we CD’d, but that wouldn’t work any more. I think we’ll try Pull-Ups.
how old is your daughter? Mine daughter is 6 years old and still wears diapers to bed. I use pampers size 6 on her.
I was thinking about using pull ups, but she actually prefers a regular diaper.
It’s hard because even though she doesn’t mind it, she still feels like she is the only one out there like her.
You can privately email me if you like as I would want to get some input
Thanks

Hey Mary,
Feel free to ask – email me if you’d like (mickeycoutts at GMAIL (dot) com).
My daughter is 5 and doesn’t mind it. She knows that a lot of my friends’ kids did the same thing and thinks it’s pretty routine. I just keep reminding her that she sleeps so soundly (like my husband) that her body doesn’t wake up yet. She’ll eventually grow out of it and in the meantime I won’t have to change sheets at night. Once we see that she’d waking up when she needs to go (she does every once in a while) pretty regularly, we’ll see how she does without them.
Let me know if you want more input. 🙂
