Isn’t it amazing how technologically advanced our kids are? My 2-year-old toddler knows how to open Netflix on the iPad and start one of his favorite kid shows.
In our family, the kids all earn tickets for doing their chores and for nice acts that they do throughout the week. They can use those tickets to trade in for 30 minute blocks of playing on the iPad or watching a kids’ show.
Almost every single ticket goes to watching a kids show streaming from Netflix.
The kids love watching fun and funny adventures with their favorite characters. And I love that it’s super easy to get family-friendly shows easily and quickly.
Plus, with the new content added recently from Disney Jr., Hasbro and Cartoon Network, there’s no shortage of great shows for the kids to enjoy.
There are so many great shows that we often stream a show from Netflix for Family Movie Nights. It’s the kids’ favorite night of the week. Each weekend, the kids take turns picking out a show for movie night. My toddler son loves to watch shows like Curious George. The girls love Tinker Bell and the Great Fairy Rescue and My Little Pony.
On Sunday nights, we usually have dinner and check to make sure everything is ready for school the next morning. Then the kids go up and get into their PJs and grab a favorite stuffed animal or doll. When they come back downstairs for Movie Night, I have the popcorn ready and my husband has the show ready and streaming from Netflix.
One of the favorite snacks is my gourmet popcorn!
Most weekends, we cuddle on the couches and watch a favorite show. For a special treat, my husband will sometimes set up his projector and we’ll watch a streaming show from Netflix out on the back deck or in the Family Room. The kids love it!
Are you streaming Netflix yet?
It’s so easy – anyone can do it! Just download the free app on your iPad, visit Netflix.com on your computer or click on the Netflix app on your gaming device. That’s it!
You’ll be able to watch your favorite TV shows and movies anywhere, any time you want. And there’s a dedicated section of family-friendly choices for kids from ages 2-12. The shows are all selected with help from Common Sense Media, so you can feel safe knowing that they’re appropriate for young children. You can even check reviews, ratings and detailed information for each show.
What are you watching on TV with your family? Netflix has family favorites from Disney, Disney Jr., Hasbro, Cartoon Network and Dreamworks that are available to stream anytime, anywhere.
And streaming is easier than you think! Download the free app on your iPad, click on the Netflix app on any gaming device, go to the website on your computer – and you’re in business. Check it out here!

This looks like a lot of fun to watch Netflix streaming with my nephew and niece, and not having to wonder what shows that I will need to watch this summer. I will have to look into this!
Movie night with the family can bring you so much closer..Families dont spend time together like they use to.
We need to do this! I didn’t know netflix had so much to choose from for the family!
We have Netflix and it has been a Blessing. My grandson watches it every morning before he went to school and he absolutely loves it. They have so many choices for him to choose from so it has been great for us.
netflix is a regular in my house and we love popcorn family night too 🙂 thank you
We aren’t using Netflix yet but I’ve been thinking about cutting our cable and switching to Netflix. We have family movie night on Saturday nights and it’s so sweet so see our three children all cuddled up on the floor with their blankets while we watch a movie together.
I absolutely LOVE netflix. We are currently trying to decide if we should cancel our cable and just use Netflix. They have a great selection of movies and tv shows.
No TV, no iPad, no kids. Haven’t watched it at all.
We just signed up @ 3 months ago and I love it! We stream it through our xbox360 and our wii. LOVE the new show Hemlock Grove!
I will def be trying this out if there is no long term contract required! Summer can be so very hot here and since my little niece will be here with the family for about a month this would be great!! It has to be less expensive than my cable which just keeps skyrocketing!
I would love to set up an outdoor screen for a movie night. Have the fire pit going to roast marshmallows and roast hot dogs. We have not tried netflix yet.
We love Netflix..we use it all the time
I’ve never tried Netflix but maybe I will.
I used to have Netflix and I still prefer going to Blockbuster. Not a Netflix fan, at all.
I’ve been a Netflix member for 6 years and love it.
I have never used Netflix but with growing prices for cable i am really thinking about to switching to netflix…i am sure our 3 kids will love it.
I am a huge lover of Netflix! Whats not to love there is even a kid’s section so the children can watch rating appropriate shows! 🙂
We love Netflix in our house and use it daily. I love your family movie night idea!
I have never tried Netflix before.I have heard a lot of people talking about how good it is.I will have to check it out soon.
We have never tried Netflex before. I like that they have so many family movies to choose from.

I have never tried Netflix, but that popcorn looks yummy.
Netflix is pretty awesome. A great way to spend some quality time with the family. That popcorn sure did look good too 🙂
I love that Netflix has expanded so much in family stuff! There are plenty of options to watch all the time!
I need to get netflix! Sounds sgood
This is an inexpensive way to have a great night!
great ideas!
We just got Netflix a few weeks ago and are really enjoying it! I’m not sure what you mean by “streaming”… we watch it on our TV that has a Wii hooked up to it. I wish we could watch it on the other TV too.
I’m not streaming yet but definitely leaning towards it and possibly doing the Roku thing too. Thanks for the post and that gourmet popcorn looks fun!
we use netflix here on a daily basis , so many old movies to watch with the kids that i grew up on and enjoy with them now and lots of new ones they like thank you
