Child Hunger Ends Here with ConAgra Foods – Giveaway

When I was growing up, my mother was a school teacher and then a principal at an elementary school across town. As part of her job, she learned about problems that some of her students faced and tried to help them find solutions if possible.

One of the most common problems that I remember all these years later was hunger.

It wasn’t just an issue of poverty. I remember her sharing that some of the kids who seemed to have perfect homes and happy families didn’t always have meals to eat outside of school. It was a heartbreaking problem 20 years ago and is the same today.

Because I’ve heard firsthand so many personal stories of child hunger, I’m thrilled to be able to work with ConAgra Foods on their Child Hunger Ends Here campaign.

Child Hunger is often invisible, unnoticed by others. In fact, more than 1 out of every 5 children in the U.S. suffers from food insecurity. That’s almost 17 million children who are not getting consistent, healthy meals. These could be children in your kids’ classes, children on their bus, or even the children who live next door to you.

To help end the epidemic of child hunger in America, ConAgra created and is now in the fourth year of the Child Hunger Ends Here campaign. This year, they’re working with some very special musical artists to spread awareness for this wonderful cause.

Musical artists Carly Rae Jepsen, Tori Kelly, Amber Riley and Cody Simpson all have joined the movement in the hopes of having Child Hunger Ends Here donate 3 million meals to their longstanding partner, Feeding America. Tori, Cody and Amber have all recorded special versions of an original song called “Fill A Heart”.

It might seem that with 17 million hungry children, it’s too difficult to really make a difference. But you can.

By just entering the code found on participating packages of ConAgra Foods products, you can donate a meal! Share that easy process with friends and family and help us get to 3 million meals donated. It’s so simple!

Child Hunger is especially problematic right now. Children who depend on free or reduced-price meals in school are out of school for the summer. Instead of the 21.5 million children receiving meals in school, only 2.3 million participate in the Summer Food Service program. That means millions of children are going hungry right now.
