When you think of vacationing in Florida, do you automatically think of Mickey Mouse, traffic, noise and stress?
Doesn’t a relaxing, quiet vacation sound more appealing? Getting away from the tourist scene, away from the hustle-and-bustle of the crowds?
Gulf County, Florida, has just what you’re looking for – everything from beauty and relaxation to adventure and activity.
Spend the morning horseback riding or collecting shells along the beautiful white beaches. You can take the family out to a different beach every morning for a new adventure, whether it’s shelling at the tip of the Cape, fishing by Indian Pass or scalloping in the Bay.
Then enjoy an afternoon of snorkeling the crystal clear water of St. Joseph Bay, exploring the Gulf of Mexico or adventuring through the Dead Lakes.
The Dead Lakes are a unique feature of Gulf County that bring a once-in-a-lifetime kayaking adventure to its guests. The name comes from the Cypress and Tupelo trees that stand in the water. When the water is low, you can see the many stumps rising out of the swamp. Combined with the fog of early morning, the Dead Lakes make you feel like you’re on another planet.
In the evening, build a fire and roast marshmallows for the kids as you camp along the scenic shoreline.
Then wake up early in the morning to try and catch the dolphin parade! Families love spotting a pod of dolphins playing and chasing fish just off of the beach. It’s a truly wonderful experience to see it all happening up close.
