I have such great memories of school from when I was a kid!
My mother would take me out to buy new clothes every summer and I had to hang everything in my closet, unable to wear any of the new items before school started.
I can still remember how excited I would get about all those great new clothes. I would try on outfit after outfit to make sure I picked the perfect clothes for my first day of school.
One of my favorite looks back in the day was ripped jeans. All the girls at school had jeans that were perfectly ripped at the knees. You couldn’t buy them that way, though. You had to take a rock or keys or even a butter knife to scrape them and abuse them until they were frayed just right.
It was a lot of effort but so worth it.
Now that I’m a mom with three kids, it’s funny to see that ripped jeans are back in style. When I’m out shopping for back-to-school clothes with the children, I see them everywhere.
Of course, they’re all pre-ripped these days – in strategic spots up and down the jeans instead of the ripped knees I remember so fondly. But everyone loves them just the same.
I’m happy to buy my kids all the latest fashions, but those fashions aren’t always cheap. Whenever I can save on my back-to-school shopping, I definitely do.
Which is where RetailMeNot comes in — it’s the perfect back-to-school shopping companion!
