When I had my first child, I went out and bought or registered for a lot of great baby products. Like a lot of new moms out there, I also unknowingly bought some really awful baby products. To this day, I still have no idea how some of the most popular items on the market (at that time) were some of the worst products I tried.
One of those products was a baby carrier. I bought the only kind of baby carrier I had every heard of at the time and thought it was supposed to be the best available. My daughter cried the entire time she was in it and I ended up with a horrible backache. I used it a few more times, assuming that my daughter would get used to it and enjoy it, but that never happened. She was never comfortable in it, I didn’t like the way it looked or felt on, and I always ended up with a backache.
I’ve tried some different slings and carriers since then and know a lot more about what works for me and for my children. The Boba Classic Carrier is one carrier that my baby boy and I love.
The Boba Baby Carrier was created when the founders’ son outgrew his sleepy wrap. He wasn’t comfortable in bigger carriers, but still always wanted to be carried. After many different prototypes and the brilliant addition of a footstrap, the Boba carrier was born.
The Boba Carrier footstrap is such an important feature of the carrier. It prevents the fabric from digging into the child’s legs, keeps bigger legs from just hanging and gives the child a comfortable place to put their feet. Since the Boba Carrier was designed to be used with children weighing 15-45 pounds, the footstraps are essential for the comfort of older toddlers (like having a footrest on a tall stool for us). They also support your child’s legs in a better angle which naturally tilts the pelvis and aligns the spine.

Another great feature that I love about the Boba Carrier is additional height. Boba Carriers are extended a few inches in height, which keeps my son closer to me and not hanging or leaning out. This keeps my center of gravity closer to my body, eliminating the back pain I always had with the other carrier.
The Boba Carrier also has a removable napping hood that rolls and unrolls easily at the top of the carrier. Whenever we’re out in bright sun or the baby has fallen asleep, I just pull it up over him to keep him nice and cozy.

I’ve been so happy with this carrier. The only thing that disappoints me is that I didn’t know about it with my other two children. There are so many times when my husband and I take the children places that we can’t take a stroller, like on hikes in the woods or to the crowded state fair. I’ve started using it whenever we head out for a walk now, since a lot of days we’ll end up walking on paths through the woods or walking along the crazy little sidewalks in our town center that have sets of steps on every block. Keeping the baby in the Boba Carrier also frees my hands up to hold my girls’ hands crossing the street or walking in congested areas.
