How to Cook Frozen Pizza on the Grill
Every time a new season comes around, I think things are going to slow down… who am I kidding? Now that summer is over we are full swing in to fall, which in this household means one thing… FOOTBALL SEASON. Whether we are watching our son play, watching our daughters cheer, or all piling into the living room to watch our favorite teams battle it out on the television, football seems to be a part of daily life right now.
Easy snack foods and meals are a “must have” for getting through football season while still getting to actually enjoy the games. As the “mom of the house” I seem to always be in charge of the food – and frozen pizza has become the perfect solution for all of our needs. I love to stock up at Sam’s Club so I always have pizza on hand when we need it. It’s perfect when we want something easy before and after practice or for an easy late night meal after games. And now that I know how to cook frozen pizza on the grill, it’s a great finger food for game days at home or on the road!
My husband “forgot to mention” that he invited some friends from college over to watch the rivalry game last weekend. While it came as a bit of a surprise when the doorbell rang, I didn’t panic. I knew I’d be able to easily throw together enough food to please the crowd without a lot of effort. And I’d still be able to enjoy cheering on the game myself – after all, I’m a fan too!
Since we love to grill at home and while tailgating, I’ve started making pizzas on the grill for game days. Most people automatically head to the oven to make pizza, but once we learned how to cook frozen pizza on the grill, we started taking game day food to a whole new level!
It’s great to be able to throw a couple of pizzas on the grill along with everything else we’re making. No matter what the season or occasion, pizza is always a hit with kids of all ages!
How to Cook Frozen Pizza on the Grill
– Heat the grill with all of the burners on low to medium-low until the grill reaches 400°F.
– Remove all wrappers and cardboard from frozen pizzas. Place pizzas directly in center of grill rack, close lid and turn all burners to low heat.
– Grill for 6 minutes, then rotate pizzas with a spatula. If pizza bottoms are cooked, move pizzas to warmer rack or to outer edges of grill for less direct heat. Continue to grill with cover closed for another 6-8 minutes or until cheese is melted and crust is golden brown.
– Remove the pizzas from the grill and let them cool for several minutes before serving.
