Since having my oldest daughter 7 years ago, I’ve used a lot of baby monitors. We started out with a nice video monitor that I really liked, but I didn’t want to have to unplug and move the monitor upstairs and downstairs whenever I moved, so we also added an audio monitor with 2 speakers. As our new neighborhood grew and more houses were built nearby, we started having more problems with interference. There were times when I could hear my next door neighbor’s nursery as clear as a bell and I was always uncomfortable thinking that they might be listening to us too. By the time there were houses on both sides of us, we didn’t have a single monitor that worked consistently without interference from somewhere.
.

.
Our newest monitor, the iHealth iBaby Monitor has solved that problem. The monitor connects to my iPhone by Wi-Fi, so I no longer have interference or have to worry about neighbors listening in. The fact that it works with my iPhone, iPad or iPod touch means that I can check on the baby from wherever I am. I don’t have to go back downstairs or into my room to see a monitor. I always have my iPhone or iPad with me, so I can check on the baby any time I want.

There are a lot of great features with the iBaby Monitor that I haven’t had in other monitors in the past. I can actually turn the camera up or down and from side to side by just swiping my touchscreen. I love this feature now that the baby moves around so much in his sleep. It would be perfect for a mom who wants to check on twins in different cribs or on a baby and a toddler sharing a room. And with the IR night vision, I can see with iBaby clearly at night.
.
Another feature I’ve not had before is the 2-way audio capability. When the baby was fussy, I could use it to just say some calming words or say “shhhh”. He could hear me and seemed to be soothed by it. It was a great way to help comfort him without going into the room (and having him see me and want to get up). Now that the baby is older, I use it to tell him to lay down. 🙂 He forgets to lay down sometimes during naptime and will sit up to play, so I’ll remind him over the monitor to lay down and close his eyes.
.
iBaby also allows you to set a motion alert or sound alert so you are notified if the baby cries or gets fussy.

Another fun feature on the iBaby that I’ve never seen before is the snapshot function. If the baby is sleeping soundly or not sleeping and being hilarious, I can actually snap a photo of him. The photo is saved in my photo album on my iPhone and I can send it to my husband or forward it to my computer to print out. I wish I’d been able to do that with my girls when they were little. They’re all so funny when they’re sleepy, but if I try to go in and take a picture, they stop whatever they’re doing and I can’t get a photo. Now I can snap pictures whenever my son is being silly and cute by himself in his crib.

Here’s a picture I snapped of Elmo in the crib:
