My husband and I are counting down the days until Labor Day. No, not just because of school starting – an even bigger deal for us! The unofficial start to Football Season! Yes, we have become that couple who plans our fall around our favorite team’s schedule. Even the kids have started getting in on the fun, sporting their favorite team jerseys on game day.
To celebrate football season we are having a big cookout with the neighbors – who thankfully big football fans just like we are, so they will know and understand the screaming that may be heard from our house on game day is no cause for alarm. In fact usually we hear the screaming coming from their house as well. I headed down to our local Walmart to get all of our cookout necessities to all celebrate the start of screaming season – I mean football season.
Since our teams are not very local, we host more watch parties than tailgates, but it is just as much fun. The best part about the game day festivities – besides the actual game of course – is always the food! One of the staples at any game day party, of course, are hot dogs This year, we’ll be taking our dogs to a whole new level with everyone’s favorite – bacon! Yep, we’re making Bacon Wrapped Hot Dogs on the grill and I have to tell you – they’re seriously tasty!
These Bacon Wrapped Hot Dogs are super easy to make and don’t take many ingredients. I just grab our favorite Oscar Mayer hot dogs and bacon, along with veggies and Heinz condiments while I’m shopping at my local Walmart, then fire up the grill when everyone starts getting hungry.
Bacon Wrapped Hot Dogs
Ingredients:
1 tomato, chopped
1/4 cup chopped onions
1 jalapeño pepper, chopped
10 slices OSCAR MAYER Bacon
1 pkg. (16 oz.) OSCAR MAYER Wieners
10 hot dog buns
1/4 cup KRAFT Real Mayo Mayonnaise
1/2 cup HEINZ Tomato Ketchup
1/4 cup HEINZ Yellow Mustard
Instructions:
Heat grill to medium heat.
Combine tomatoes, onions and peppers.
Wrap 1 bacon slice tightly around each wiener, tucking in ends of bacon slices to secure.
Grill 8 to 10 min. or until bacon is done and wieners are heated through, turning occasionally.
Drain on paper towels.
Meanwhile, brush mayo evenly onto both sides of buns, then grill 1 to 2 min. on each side or until lightly toasted on both sides. Fill buns with wieners; top with tomato mixture, ketchup and mustard.
