My son loves Curious George.
Now, I don’t mean he loves him like he loves rainbows and chocolate. I mean he really, really LOVES Curious George.
He has dozens of Curious George books, Curious George stuffed animals, Curious George PJs, and everything in between.
I’m sure most of you are familiar with our favorite little mischievous monkey, but you may not realize how educational it can be. The animated series based on the popular books by Margret and H.A. Rey are actually aimed at preschool viewers (ages 3-5) with the goal of the series being to inspire children to explore math, science, and engineering in the world around them. It absolutely worked with my son!
The animated Curious George series is a show that I feel good about my son watching because I know he’s learning while he’s being entertained. There have been numerous times when I’ll be surprised by something my son knows, and when I ask him how he learned that, he’ll tell me about an episode. He has referred to the difference between 1 dozen and 100 dozen, how to plan work and play based on the weather forecast, and even what a didgeridoo is!
Last week while we were playing miniature golf on a family vacation, I overheard him telling his sisters that he knows the lowest score wins (instead of the highest score) because Curious George learned that in golf. That made me smile. 🙂
So when we found out that everyone’s favorite monkey is swinging into homes on Hulu, we were seriously happy! All 9 seasons of Curious George, as well as the animated film Curious George 2: Follow That Monkey, are now streaming only on Hulu. Yay!
Now it will be easier than ever for my little boy to watch an episode of Curious George whenever we want. Since each of the 108 episodes is made up of two short stories, there are over 200 different little stories for him to enjoy. I can turn on half an episode while I’m getting dinner on the table or let him watch an entire episode while I help his big sisters with their homework.
