This post is part of a sponsored campaign with Kellogg’s® Rice Krispies®. All opinions are my own.
Kellogg’s® Rice Krispies® are a staple in our pantry – whether we are enjoying a bowl of the Snap. Crackle. Pop. goodness for breakfast or whipping up our favorite sweet treat – it is one thing I make sure I never run out of.
For as long as I can remember, Kellogg’s® Rice Krispies® Treats have been a part of every holiday and special occasion with my family. But I admit – sometimes that “special occasion” was just that it was a Tuesday – we didn’t need too much of a reason to enjoy our favorite goodies. I remember being a little girl and sitting on the counter while my Mom made my favorite treats – always letting me lick the spoon and getting the first taste before my brothers. I guess being the only girl sometimes has its perks!
Kellogg’s® Rice Krispies® Treats are a favorite of my family now too. I love how versatile they are and have fun making them in to fun colors and shapes to help celebrate the season. Mom and I always made traditional Kellogg’s® Rice Krispies® Treats, but now my kids and I have fun thinking of different creative ideas to enjoy our favorite sweets.
This year my oldest wanted to try making Candy Corn Kellogg’s® Rice Krispies® Treats and I thought it was perfect. I am a huge fan of candy corn – it is one of the signs of autumn that we look forward to every year. When she had the idea to pair my favorite fall candy with my favorite sweet treat, it sounded like absolute perfection – and it was! These Candy Corn Kellogg’s® Rice Krispies® Treats not only turned out absolutely adorable, but they taste fantastic. These are sure to be an annual treat now to help kick off fall!
CANDY CORN RICE KRISPIES® TREATS
Ingredients
11 cups Kellogg’s® Rice Krispies® cereal
2 (10 oz) bags of mini-marshmallows
Yellow, orange and white food coloring
1 stick of salted butter
Yellow Layer
5 cups Kellogg’s® Rice Krispies® cereal
3 cups mini marshmallows
3 tablespoons butter
Orange Layer
4 cups Kellogg’s® Rice Krispies® cereal
2 cups mini marshmallows
2 tablespoons butter
White Layer
2 cups Kellogg’s® Rice Krispies® cereal
1 cup mini marshmallows
1.5 tablespoons butter
Directions
Spray two 9-inch round cake pans with non-stick cooking spray, set aside.
Yellow Layer
Melt 3 Tbsps of butter in a microwave-safe bowl, then add yellow food coloring to the melted butter and stir.
Pour in 3 cups of mini-marshmallows and stir to coat the marshmallows with butter and yellow coloring.
Return the bowl to the microwave for one minute. If the marshmallows are not melted after one minute, add 15-30 second increments until the marshmallows are melted. Stir gently with greased spatula.
Pour 5 cups of Kellogg’s® Rice Krispies® into the bowl. Stir the Kellogg’s® Rice Krispies® into the marshmallow mixture with a greased spatula.
Divide in half and press into the the outside edge of both cake pans with greased spatula.
Orange Layer
Repeat the same process using 2 tablespoons of butter and orange food coloring, 2 cups of mini-marshmallows and 4 cups of Kellogg’s® Rice Krispies®. Divide the orange mixture in half and press into the cake pans against the yellow layer.
White Layer
Repeat the same process using 1.5 tablespoons of butter and white food coloring, 1 cup of mini- marshmallows and 2 cups of Kellogg’s® Rice Krispies®. Divide the white mixture in half and press into the centers of the cake pans.
Let the Kellogg’s® Rice Krispies® treats cool completely. I popped mine into the fridge for 30 minutes to make sure they were cool and firm.
Once the pans have cooled, run a knife around the outside of each to loosen the treats, then turn the pans upside down to release the treats.
Cut into 16 wedges.
To make treat pops, use an ice pick or small knife to cut holes in the end of each treat, then slide treat onto a colorful paper straw or treat stick. Store in an airtight container.
Enjoy!
