If your family loves to enjoy exciting activities when you travel, you’ll love these extreme adventures in Pigeon Forge!
I’ve shared our favorite family activities in Pigeon Forge that are perfect for families with smaller children or for those who prefer a more relaxing vacation. For those of you who love to be active and get your adrenaline flowing, these activities are just for you.
Extreme Adventures in Pigeon Forge
Indoor Skydiving
I have actually been sky-diving before and while I love it, I have to say the indoor version at Flyaway Indoor Skydiving was more fun. It was great to be able to relax and enjoy the experience of flying without the worry of something going wrong. Our instructor was great with the kids and made sure everyone had a great time. It was an amazing experience that we will remember for the rest of our lives!
Zorbing
We each took a turn riding down the mountainside at Outdoor Gravity Park in an 11-foot diameter ball called an OGO. They added warm water to the bottom before we climbed in so the ride felt like an adrenaline-packed and extremely fast bouncy water slide. I’ve never done anything like it in my life – it was so cool!
Ropes Course
The Ropes Course at The Island was one of the kids’ favorite activities of the trip. We all headed up to enjoy the fun and spent over an hour on the ropes course alone. Although it took a little bit of courage to make the climb, by the end of the hour we were all ziplining across the course and even did the four-story freefall jump at the end. It was amazing!
Great Smoky Mountain Wheel
While a Ferris wheel may not seem extreme at first, the sheer height of the Great Smoky Mountain Wheel will definitely thrill your family. This 200 foot-tall Ferris wheel stands in the center of The Island in Pigeon Forge. Riders on the wheel get unparalleled views of the world famous Smoky Mountains in a plush, air-conditioned gondola that seats up to 8 guests. On our ride, we took the VIP gondola which, in addition to the 360 degree view around us, also had an all-glass floor. We were able to look out at the gorgeous scenic mountains around us, as well as the activities going on directly below our feet on the ground of The Island.
7D Adventure
7D Dark Ride Adventure Zombie Hunt, a state of the art shooting game was a fun discovery during our evening at The Island. We worked together to hunt zombies while the ride’s seven dimensions, including wind, sound, and movement, made the experience shockingly real. There are tamer versions for families with young children, but once everyone is old enough to enjoy it, I would absolutely recommend the Zombie Hunt. It was a blast!
We had the most amazing family trip we’ve ever taken on our recent Pigeon Forge vacation. There was so much to do – from relaxing and enjoying the beautiful views to testing our nerves with new and exciting extreme activities. Although we were able to do so many great things, we have many more left to try on a future trip.
We’ve already started talking about heading to Pigeon Forge again next year. Since I’ve been telling a friend about how cool Pigeon Forge was, we’re thinking about doing a two-family trip next time. We can rent a cabin in the mountains or stay at the same wonderful hotel we loved this year. We’ll spend the days out having fun with the kids, and then once they’ve all crashed for the night, the adults can relax, have a glass of wine and chat.
Doesn’t that sound nice? I’m already excited about it! And since the kids are still talking about all of the cool things they did last week, I know they’d be absolutely thrilled to go back.
