When I was growing up, it seemed like the only super heroes you every heard about were characters like Superman and Batman. It is true that back in the day the male super heroes always seemed to take center stage. More recently though, the female super heroes have been getting their time to shine. As a mother of two little girls, I could not be more excited to see more equality in toy heroes, so I have teamed up with Mattel and Toys R Us to share the brand new DC Super Hero Girls!
DC Super Hero Girls centers on the female Super Heroes and Super-Villains of the DC Comics universe during their formative high school years – before discovering their full super power potential! My girls are right at the perfect age to see these young girls live and learn to be their very best potential every single day – and that you do not have to be “perfect” to be SUPER! What a great message for girls!
We received Wonder Woman, Supergirl, Batgirl and Bumblebee. I have to admit I laughed a bit when I unboxed these girls. Gone are the days of the barely-mobile jointed action figures of my childhood. These dolls are bright and cheerful and can be styled for any action adventure!
In DC Super Hero Girls, Wonder Woman is the leader and often shows her courage and competitiveness while still being the girl her friends can look up to. Her Magic Lasso of Truth come in handy a lot – compelling whomever is caught in it to tell the truth… no matter what.
Supergirl is the kind one, and we learn that she is the most powerful teen in the Universe. I absolutely LOVE that they made kindness so powerful! She is innocent and optimistic, but has super-strength, the ability to fly, and more!
Batgirl is my favorite! She is a tech genius and an amazing detective with photographic memory. How cool would that be!? Even though she doesn’t have the typical super powers that her friends do, she is an amazing problem solver that never gives up!
Bumblebee is the social butterfly of the group and is always up to date on the goings on in music, fashion, and more. She is also one of the smartest girls at Super Hero High. One of her powers is shrinkability – she can become the size of a bumblebee – which sure comes in handy when the girls find themselves in some sticky situations.
The kids have been having a ball playing with their new DC Super Hero Girls! In addition to playing with the figures, they can also watch videos, download and play their super awesome gaming app, and even collect all of the DC Super Hero Girls action dolls and playsets. Fun!
