5 Top Tips for Bathroom Remodel
When my husband and I built our house, we had a list of requirements for our home. We wanted to live on a cul-de-sac so there wasn’t too much traffic. The yard needed to be large and private enough for the kids to play in. And there needed to be enough room for the three kids that we were hoping to have.
We’ve loved living in our house over the last few years and have been pleased with the choices we made as we designed it. But now that the kids are older, some of the rooms don’t fit our needs the way they used to.
The kids all have their own bedrooms and share one bathroom. When the children were young, that worked out just fine. We have other bathrooms in the house so the kids could always head to another bathroom if someone was using the kids’ one. But now that they’re all getting a little older, the kids are having trouble making one bathroom work. Everyone wants to get ready for school at the same time in the morning and wants more room for his/her toiletries.
The bathroom hasn’t been painted since we first built the house. The décor was cute and appropriate for young kids, but they kids have grown out of it. My husband and I were talking about repainting and updating the décor, but now we’ve started thinking about updating the entire bathroom instead. I’ve been checking out the latest trends in bathroom styles and remodels and have got some great ideas about what I like.
Why Remodel the Bathroom
With three kids sharing it, the kids’ bathroom is a fairly busy room. It’s the room where the children start their mornings and end their nights. We want a bright, open bathroom where the kids can relax in the tub or feel refreshed as they shower.
In addition to wanting a nicer bathroom for our family, we’d also benefit from a new bathroom when we sell the house. Bathroom remodels are one of the most common home improvement projects because they are a great way to make an easy and cost-effective upgrade. When we decide to sell our house in the future, the bathroom remodel will increase the value of the home and its appeal to prospective buyers.
How to Remodel the Bathroom
My husband and I fancy ourselves as fairly handy people, but a bathroom remodel is far beyond anything that we could tackle ourselves. We want the job done correctly so we’ll want to hire a team with expertise. For our bathroom remodel, we’ll leave the job to the experts at Sears Home Improvement.
Because we want the remodel to look great for many years, I’m planning to consult a design expert as well. Sears Home Services’ bathroom remodeling experts will come to our house for a free in-home consultation to talk about our needs and wishes. Whether we want a simple remodel or plan to renovate the entire room, the experts at Sears Home Services will help us get the bathroom design that we want. They can help with new bathroom flooring options, new countertops, vanities, sinks and tubs, as well as advising on the latest trends for every budget.
How to Plan a Bathroom Remodel
Whether you’ve been pinning gorgeous bathroom photos for years or have no idea what you want, a consultation is a great first step. A bathroom remodel can create a bit of chaos in the home so you’ll want to be sure to work with a skilled installation team. Sears’ bathroom remodeling services include complete project management from beginning to end. Your installation team will work with you from the first discussion of what you want all the way through professional installation.

I was just recently looking at recommended contractors for a bathroom remodel on Angie’s List and Sears was on the list. It did get a B, and after reading some of the reviews, it was easy to see why. Apparently the happiness of the buyer depends entirely on the sub-contractor that actually does the work, and unfortunately the reviews reflected that. I have heard that about several broker type companies, so I would advise investigating not only the parent company, but also whatever contractor is assigned–that is certainly your right to do.

I’d love to do a bathroom remodel. I was noticing on local FB group, some contractors were discussing shortcuts that can make it cheaper but not wise. Good to really compare how a job would be done, to ensure it is done the best way, as it could cause repairs and maintenance later. Some good deals here! Wow!
