When my husband and I built our house a few years ago, we thought of everything. We worked with the builder, researched online and made sure we didn’t forget anything. I read a lot about Mud Rooms online, but they’re really uncommon in this area. We don’t have a lot of mud, so everyone enters through the front door or the garage door and no mud room is needed.
And now I want a mud room. It doesn’t really need to be for possible mud tracked in, though. I just want an extra room where my kids can take off their shoes, hang up their backpacks and coats and keep extra supplies like cleats and helmets. We don’t have enough room inside for those cool lockers or even a bench with hangers, so I want to add a mud room.
We have a huge area in the back of the garage that would be perfect for the new mud room. Our builder is still building houses in the neighborhood and will give us a good deal on the remodel since he’ll have the equipment and supplies nearby. That leaves the interior planning to me.
I’ve done some research online, looking for low price flooring for the mud room. I want something durable, since there will be a lot of traffic through the room. But since it’s not actually for muddy shoes, I’m considering lots of different floor types including porcelain, ceramic, stone, tile, wood and laminate.
I found a lot of great deals online at Floor and Decor. They’ve got great prices on all types of flooring and huge showrooms where I’ll be able to see the products in person. Floor and Decor has the best selection in tiles I’ve found and really amazing deals. You can see how amazing the selection is in the showroom photo:
So stay tuned for updates about our remodel! I’m looking forward to sharing the process and some “before” and “after” photos once it’s finished.
