There are so many great things that come with getting older. My children are always talking about how nice it will be when they are my age and can “do whatever they want”. I remind them that I have a lot of responsibilities as an adult, but they are right. For the most part, I’m able to do pretty much whatever I want to do.
But as great as it is to have the freedom that comes with age, there are some things that aren’t as nice – like aging.
Whether we like it or not, we are all aging. Some more slowly than others, but it’s happening to all of us.

My state, North Carolina, is listed as “10th Highest for Smoking”. Of course smoking can cause extreme and early aging, so I’m glad that I don’t smoke!
Besides those main factors for each state, there are also individual factors that affect how much we wrinkle. Genetics, stress, weather, lifestyle and other factors also contribute to how well you age.
This chart reflects lifestyle, occupational and environmental criteria that relates to the skin damage of the residents in each state. I would have assumed that the southern states would have the worst skin damage because of the strong sun, so it’s pretty interesting to see that things like the stress of commutes up in the northeast can affect skin too.
My state is #34, which I’m pretty happy about. I would have guessed it would be higher on the list because of sun damage, but I’ll take 34th!
