My husband loves having the latest and coolest tech products available, especially when it comes to TVs. So when we heard about the LG OLED TV, we headed to our local hhgregg store to check it out. As soon as we walked toward the OLED TV, we could see the difference from across the room.
If you aren’t familiar with the LG OLED TV, I have to tell you – it’s amazing.
The OLED is different from the traditional, synthetic LED because the picture is made with an organic substance that glows when introduced to an electric current. It’s part of a revolutionary new design that reduces the thickness and weight of the TV, while creating a much more vibrant and dynamic picture. The result is an amazing high-definition image.
Because LG OLED TV has self-lighting pixels that can turn off completely, the TVs are able to achieve something not possible with other TVs – perfect black. The contrast ratio that happens with perfect black allows images come alive with breathtaking detail. You can see the extremely vibrant, detailed colors against the pure black background.
Our hhgregg assistant showed the difference in the black by holding a small plastic pure black card up to each side of the TV display. The LED TV looked gray and definitely lighter than the card, with blurred areas where the bright white lightened the areas around it. When he held the black card against the OLED black, though, the OLED black was perfect. The white stars were clear and distinct instead of bleeding into the surrounding black. There was a striking difference between the two.
Although my pictures give you an idea of the quality, you really have to see a LG OLED TV in person to truly understand how amazing the picture is.
LG OLED TVs are ultrathin and light, and are available in flat and curved designs. The curved design means the wide view angle allows everyone to be able to appreciate the color and clarity from any seat. You can see the curve in this TV – the picture was taken almost beside the TV, but I could still see the entire picture. So cool!

The LG TWIN Wash™ system is another cool new product we checked out at hhgregg. It allows you to wash a large load in the front-loading washer while washing a smaller load in the LG Pedestal Washer unit on the bottom – at the same time!
The LG TWIN Wash system makes it possible to clean more clothes in less time by washing two loads at once. Or save on energy and water by doing a smaller load in the Pedestal Washer when you don’t have enough clothes for the large washer. It’s perfect for special care items too, so you can separate delicates, workout wear and undergarments from the regular wash. Whatever the reason for washing a second load, the LG Pedestal Washer is the perfect solution.
