Although my husband and I are close to our parents, we aren’t close to where they live. One set of parents is several hours away and the other several states. We try to visit a couple of times every year, but with three kids in school and my husband owning his own business, it’s not always possible to see family as often as we’d like.
We’ve had the luxury of watching our children’s first steps, first days of school and first spelling bees. But the grandparents are too far away to be able to join us for those special occasions.
