5 Easy Ways to Spend Time with Your Kids
It seems like every post I start these days begins with how busy we are. It’s true that the older the kids get, the busier we seem to become. Between school, activities, and each one now getting their own little social circle, we seem to be constantly running each day. I’ve found some fun ways to work more time with the kids into my schedule so be sure to read on and see what we like to do.
My kids, husband, and I used to all reconnect after the daily activities, but now the evening also seems be filled with events that can affect how much time we have for dinner. That means team practices, after-school clubs, homework, class projects and the other everyday tasks can interrupt meal preparation and dinner itself. My husband and I agree that having a family dinner is important, so I do my best to make a home-prepared meal no matter how hectic things become. I’ve found on those busy nights, an easy but delicious meal is the perfect solution for dinner time.

Whenever I can, I try to multitask while I’m preparing dinner. I love easy meal prep because I can help my kids with their homework, set the dinner table, and chat about our day while getting the meal ready. When I have more time to prepare a meal on the weekends, I encourage the children to help and we can take our time with everything. But almost every single weeknight, dinner needs to be fast and easy.
On Monday night we had one volleyball game, one soccer practice, an after-school class meeting, and errands to run for a school event today. By the time we got home, everyone was hungry and I needed something that could be put together easily. I love being able to grab an easy DIY meal from the freezer while the kids head upstairs to get quick showers before dinner.

Frozen dinner kits are uncooked meals that stay frozen until you’re ready for a delicious fresh-made meal prepared in your kitchen in under an hour.

5 Easy Ways to Spend Time with Your Kids
Have special time:
Part of the fun for kids is looking forward to an event. Pick a date to spend special time with your children and write it on a family calendar. Your kids will be able to check and see when their fun day is coming and can look forward to it.
Take a fun class together:
Choose an art class, a swim class, or something else your child will enjoy and sign up together. We are all used to finding classes and activities that the kids can take but don’t sign ourselves up as well. Your children will love spending time together while they enjoy the class.
Make dinner together:
Your children can give input on what to make for the meal, can help shop for the ingredients, and help with age-appropriate tasks in the kitchen. Kids will learn new cooking skills as they have fun with mom or dad.
Make a scrapbook together:
Print out some of your favorite family photos and create a scrapbook together with your child. Let her choose where the photos will go, help decorate the pages with stickers and embellishments, and let your child keep the book in her room to enjoy whenever she wants.
Get to know each other:
Find a fun survey online or create your own including questions about your favorite day ever to most embarrassing moment and everything in between. You and your child will enjoy sharing the answers together and will learn new things about each other.
