One of my favorite things to do has always been reading. No matter how busy or stressful my day gets, I take the time to read a little before falling asleep at night. Reading has always been a great way for me to relax, unwind and escape from my everyday worries.
Now that I’m a mom, I’m thankful to have three children who love books just as much as I do. When we’re packing for vacation, the first thing they add to their suitcase is a pile of books. When they earn a reward for hard work at school, they choose a trip to the book store.
Now that my daughters are tracked back in school, I decided to have a Pajama Jam Reading Party for my son. The party was inspired by Scholastic and EVEREADY®, who have teamed up to help parents shine a light on reading. We used their downloadable Pajama Jam Reading Party Toolkit to get ideas for a fun party.

5 Tips for the Perfect Pajama Party
.
1. Pick a Theme ~ Decide which theme your kids would love best. Whether you pick a princess party with lots of fairy tale books or a animal party with fun animal books, choosing a theme will help you make decisions on fun snacks, decorations and activities.
2. Make a Plan ~ Determine where you’ll hold the party. Is there a playroom or living room area big enough for lots of kids? Do you have enough sleeping bags, blankets or air mattresses for everyone, or will each child need to bring his own? How many children will you have room for and which kids will you invite?
3. Send Invitations ~ Whether you go all out with themed invitations, use an online invitation website or just send a quick email, don’t forget to let your invitees know all of the important details.
4. Make it Fun ~ Build a fun fort out of blankets or set up a play tent for the kids to play or sleep in, and add a pile of fun books for them to read. Don’t forget to add lots of EVEREADY® flashlights with EVEREADY® Gold® batteries so the kids can read and play in their fort after dark!
5. Prep for the Party ~ Have decorations, activities and snacks ready before kids arrive. Trail mix and fruit/veggie trays are always big hits at pajama parties. For a sweet treat, you can make bags of mixed flavored popcorn with this Gourmet Popcorn Recipe. Have music playing in the background and games, activities and books ready to go.
