When my daughters were little, I could ask them if they needed a new diaper. My oldest daughter would even bring me a new diaper and tell me when she needed one saying “nice keen dipa?” (nice, clean diaper). 🙂 I could ask them to lie down so I could change their diapers and they would do it. If I wasn’t sure if a new diaper was needed, they would stand still while I took a quick peek down the back of the diaper.
My son? When it’s time to change his diaper, he is GONE. Not only can I not ask him if he needs a new diaper, but if he even thinks I’m trying to check his diaper he makes a break for it. And lately if he hears one of his sisters whisper that someone’s diaper stinks, he starts running the other way.
Even when I finally do catch him and get him to the changing table or changing mat, he twists and turns and does whatever he can to move away. I can have a firm grip on his ankles and he will still completely twist the top of his torso over like some crazy contortionist baby.
It’s not fun. And since he’s not even close to potty training yet, we have a lot of diaper changes ahead of us. So when I was asked if I wanted to take the Huggies “Easy On Easy Off” Challenge, I’ll admit I laughed a little. There isn’t a whole lot that’s easy about diapers in this house with my son.
The Huggies Little Movers Slip-On diapers are definitely easy off. With side tabs that rip, I can grab my son, tear the sides and pull the diaper right off. I thought the easy part would end there since my son clearly doesn’t like when I put his diapers on.
But the craziest thing is happening. He will stand there and wait for me to get his Huggies Slip On diaper ready and then he’ll step into it! All this time I thought he hated the entire diaper change process, but he apparently just doesn’t want to lie down. (Of course, until I get better at cleaning poop while he’s standing, I’ll still have to wrestle him to the changing table every once in a while.) But being able to change the majority of his diapers without running, chasing, screaming (him) and crying (me, haha) is really, really nice!
If you have a squirmy baby or toddler like my son, be sure to try the new Huggies Little Movers slip-on diapers. They make diaper changes so much easier, and are great for quick changes in the car, at the pool and everywhere else that lying down isn’t easy to do!
