We have a lot of favorite holiday traditions in my family. Some are traditions that my husband or I enjoyed growing up in our own families and some are new traditions that we’ve made together with our children.
One of my favorite traditions is on Christmas morning. The children wait at the top of the stairs while my husband and I go downstairs and check to see if Santa came. My husband and I will walk around the downstairs, making sure everything is in place before the kids come down.
My husband and I have learned from previous years that Santa sometimes forgets a few things late at night, so we’ve gotten into the habit of double-checking everything in the morning. We now make sure that there aren’t any receipts or packaging that shouldn’t be left out.
And, most importantly, we make sure all of the toys have batteries.
There is nothing that dampens the kids’ enthusiasm about new toys faster than not being able to play with them because there are no batteries.
To make sure the kids can start enjoying their new toys right away, we make sure to stock up on plenty of batteries every holiday.
This year, we’ll be stocking up on Energizer batteries from Walmart, thanks to their amazing Rollback prices and additional savings from Coupons.com. And with the offer below for a $5 Walmart eGift Card with purchase, we’ll save there too. Love it!

What a great way to save on batteries by buying a $15 worth of batteries and getting a $5 egift card back from Walmart. I will have to get this deal.
so been there done that in our family. I pretty sure every year with our 4 kids and all the cousins….we tend to over gift one kid and under gift another. Its a total parent foul! But we now go over gift list and double check when wrapping. It happens because a few of our kids have definite things they like and its just easier to find things they like.
Batteries are so easy to forget. I like it best when they’re included.
You can never have enough batteries.
I’ve got stacks of AAA and AA’s I’ll be in trouble though if they need C’s and D’s, better check on that.
We always have a lot of batteries on hand especially during Christmas.
Thanks for sharing this! It’s amazing how many batteries we go through around Christmas time. I’ll need to stock up at Walmart!
Always looking for new ways to save on batteries! Love it!
There is nothing worse than a kid opening up a present to find that the batteries were no included!
yes, must get batteries…thanks
Nothing is worse on Christmas morning than discovering there are not enough batteries for the toys and gadgets. Better stock up so nobody is disappointed.
We always forget the batteries. And we never have enough of them.
Thank you for kickstarting my brain. Batteries are now on the shopping list for the giving tree. I am sure they need batteries for their toys.
Any help remembering the batteries is always A+!
Can never have enough batteries this time of year!
These are so very cute!
I think that these are cool.
I always have plenty of batteries. Some of the strangest things require them.
I learned this lesson the hard way. Now I write down what batteries I need as I go. Thanks for the reminder.
