Keeping the house clean at Christmas seems more important than it normally does. Unfortunately, it also seems more difficult. with a baby in the house, things that are normally decorative and festive become things to climb and things to pull down. You may remember this picture from last week where I shared what our family room Christmas tree looks like:
We have removed all of the ornaments from the bottom of the tree and moved them up. Well, actually the baby removed all of the ornaments so we moved them up. He’s also enjoyed moving all of my carefully placed wrapped presents throughout the downstairs, stacking them on top of each other and then knocking them down.
So, keeping the house clean this Christmas probably just isn’t going to happen. I’m trying to straighten as much as I can, vacuum when there’s a clear space, and remind myself to relax and just enjoy the kids while they’re young. 🙂
Any tips for keeping the house clean during the holidays? How are you moms with babies and toddlers coping?
I am sharing my holiday home decor and cleaning tips for the chance to win prizes from The SITS Girls and Great Cleaners.

What are you going to remember most? A clean house or a kid who really enjoyed all of the fun new things to play with? As long as it’s safe (like moving the ornaments up) and as long as it’s not dirty I say just go with it. Let your little one explore the wonders of Christmas. You will always have good fun stories about him getting into everything but no one will ever enjoy a story about how you dusted the mantle.

Having no ornaments at the bottom of our tree is driving my husband crazy! 🙂 Between my youngest who is 18 months and the kittens we are fostering, our tree is getting abused! I haven’t even put up our village because we know it is just going to get torn apart by our little three foot tall monster. lol
Tomorrow I am going to revamp the tree to put the non breakable ornaments on the bottom so as least there will be something down there.
Good luck to you! Merry Christmas

I know! It looks so weird. LOL. We never had this problem when my little girls were 18 months, but the baby boy is waaaaaayyyy too curious. He broke 2 fragile ornaments before we’d had enough. Maybe I’ll put some plastic ones at the bottom too….wrap the hanger around and around so he can’t pry it off.
Merry Christmas to you too! 🙂
