I’m close to the end of my diaper-changing days.
At least close to the end of diaper-changing with my own kids. My toddler son will be potty-trained and finished with diapers within the next year or so. We’re not planning to have more children, so there is an end in sight to our diaper duty.
I should be relieved that there will be an end to all of the dirty diapers. We’ve had some crazy diaper experiences between the three children. Pretty much every diaper-changing horror story? We’ve been there, done that.
From our very first diaper change:
To all of the accidents since then.
Diaper blowouts. Baby boy spray accidents. Our toddler taking off her diaper in bed to ‘play’ with whatever she finds inside.
It definitely seemed like my toddlers are always curious about what’s in there:
We’ve done it all. And although at the time it can be a pretty big mess to clean up, it’s funny to look back on now.
I read recently that the average child will use approximately 4,000 diapers before being potty trained. That means my husband and I have changed almost 12,000 diapers over the last 8 years. That’s amazing!
It’s always bittersweet when the youngest child outgrows a phase of childhood.
I’m so proud of my sweet little babies who are growing so quickly. And will love remembering and sharing with them the funny stories about when they were so tiny.
Do you have a lot of diaper-changing experience? What’s your funniest diaper-changing story?

Oh yes, we’ve had plenty of diaper disasters, and I am sure that there are plenty to come as our little one just turned 1 this week.

This is really funny, but I used cloth diapers on my son. But when he became 1 1/2 years old, I decided that I did not want to use cloth diapers anymore. So I put a pamper on him, and he screamed and tore the fake pamper diaper off, and would not let me put them on him. So I went back to the cloth diapers! So much for changing!

We are having our first son so cannot wait to see how those spraying accidents occur! a lot of funny stories of just taking off their diapers in the middle of a party bc it had pee in it! LOL signs of potty training!

I think the Donald Duck phase was the funniest for me. My daughter and I would stay upstairs where the bathroom is most of the day & she just wore a top so she could make it without getting fumbled up with her pants. Luckily, that didn’t last long.

My sons are 2 yrs 6 days apart … the first boy didn’t potty train until he was 4 yrs 3 mos old because that was when the pediatrician finally said “just let him run around naked, he’s old enough that he should be trained by now” so I had two in diapers for what seemed like FOREVER …. thankfully when the youngest was about age 2 .. I had no more diapers. I don’t miss diaper days at all. Not one little bit.

I’m so glad to be past this stage… It’s truly takes patience.

We are within 6 months (hopefully) of having our youngest out of diapers … I can not WAIT! I’m over it, lol.

I had plenty of bad experiences with my first (my son). I remember when I went shopping at JCPenney that he had the BIGGEST blow-out! I was so embarrassed. ~lol~ No interesting experiences with my daughter, though….yet.

We have plenty of diaper-changing stories, but I wouldn’t consider any of them funny . . . more like gross 😛

I was finally done with diapers as my son was potty trained, and then we decided to have another baby & now I have to start all over again. Sigh.

We’ve had a lot of diapers that somehow contained the massive explosions. I’m so glad to be past this diaper stage. We just potty trained my youngest grandson about a month ago.

One of the most frustrating was when I had just finished bathing my 12 month old and she crawled away to find her sister before I could get her diaper on. I begged her, please, whatever you do don’t poop on the carpet. She dropped her towel propped herself up on the bookshelf and proceeded to poop on the floor. She always seemed to be inspired to go potty right after the bath.

We’ve had plenty especially with the boys 🙂 We’ve had some play with the stuff inside too……..

I can’t really remember any funny stories that stand out. I am just sure glad those dirty diaper days were over a very long time ago.

My sons kept me BUSY (at least my second did) with poops!
Paula @ Frosted Fingers says
I can’t believe I started over again with the diapers. We’ve been diaper free for about 3 years until 6 weeks ago. I’m slowly working my way back into cloth with Q. It’s hard because she’s so little and they’re so big on her now.
Ty @ Mama of 3 Munchkins says
I have tons of stories but I definitely wouldn’t consider them funny, gross maybe.

Man around 4,000 diapers that’s crazy if you stop and think! We don’t have kids but lots of nieces and nephews!

We went to visit a friend’s restaurant about 1 1/2 hours away when our daughter was about 3 months old. She had a huge blow out, and I realized I had NO extra clothes in the bag for her. (New mom brain fart moment). I had to wipe her down with paper towels and the one receiving blanket we had was what she wore the rest of the evening. Good thing it was summer and not too cold out.

I’ve had moments like that too! Not a diaper in sight. O.o lol

We have also been through the diaper changing phase with three children. There were times when I had two diapers or had to go through nasty changes while pregnant, but it was bittersweet to see it end.

I can say that I am very happy to be past the diaper changing years. 🙂

I’ve had poop come spewing while I was trying to clean up from a previous poop. I actually thought it was hilarious though!
