I used to have great hair. Whether it was a trendy cut or long shiny locks, I took care of my hair and loved the way it looked.
Fast forward to being a mom of three kids.
Most days, I have a ponytail. Not even a cute, bumped-up, springy ponytail. Mine’s a pitiful, boring color, split-ends-showing ponytail. I do get my hair cut from time to time, especially if there’s a big event or conference coming up. But great hair care between those events hasn’t really been happening. I spend my money on bills and splurges for the kids, but don’t seem to have the time or the money left over for a trip to the salon.
So when I was given the chance to try Vidal Sassoon’s new Pro line, I jumped at the chance. Knowing that Vidal Sassoon is a company actually created by a stylist and that has Academies that train over 15,000 hair stylists every year, I knew that the Pro Line would be great. Plus, the line isn’t priced like other Professional level products, so I can get the same high quality at a much more reasonable price.
I was able to try the Vidal Sassoon Pro Series Moisture Shampoo and Conditioner and the Pro Series Permanent Hair Dye.
Before I tell you how the products worked, I’ll show you my “before” pictures.
The picture on the left is my hair straightened and the picture on the right is how it looks without styling. You can see that it’s a dull, matte dark brown color and looks extremely dry and strawlike. It felt that way too.
I used the Pro Series Moisture Shampoo and Conditioner for 2 days before dying my hair. I really like the shampoo and conditioner – in just those two days, my hair felt softer and a little bit smoother.
After using the shampoo and conditioner for two days, I dyed my hair with the Vidal Sassoon Pro Series Permanent Hair Dye (5RR). I’ve dyed my hair at home before, so I was familiar with the process, but quickly read through the directions before starting. From that point on, it took 45 minutes from start to finish – from taking out the bottle to stepping out of the shower with my new dyed hair. It was easy to use and the conditioner made my hair feel completely different.
But the final test would be how it looked, of course.
Here are my “after” photos:
Love, love, love it! It looks a little more red in the photos than it does in real life because I stood outside to get better light. The color is a gorgeous reddish brown with lots of awesome shine and depth. And the difference in how healthy my hair feels and looks is amazing. It’s so soft now and looks 100% better than it did before!
I’m thrilled with the new Vidal Sassoon Pro Series hair care line! For less than $10 and in less than an hour’s worth of my busy day, I completely transformed my appearance. My hair looks healthy, shiny and gorgeous now and I love it!

Your hair looks great! I will be trying this soon! I always dye my own hair but sadly I have a ton of grey hair so hair color doesn’t cover it long enough! Maybe this would cover my greys longer! Thanks for the review!
ik how u feel i did the same thing if but i love the red color if u want evn better hair i suggest suave smoothing polish and garnea blow dryer straightning perfector to give it an even better finished look
Thank you for sharing your results! The before and after pictures are great. Your hair looks fantastic! You did an awesome job and the color is great.
This is great but I dont color my hair anymore . I got grey hair in my 20’s but at 67 still not alot of grey for my age. I cant deal with the chemicals in the hair products any more. So mine stays how ever it grows. I hate to see women whose hair roots show , its ugly
I really like the color you chose! I have dark brown hair too and I SO need a change! I’ve never tried Vidal Sassoon Pro Series before, thanks for sharing!
