My mother is an organizing and cleaning queen. My parents’ house is always spotless with every single item in the proper place. If you set a glass down for a few minutes, it will be gone when you go back for it, already cleaned and put away.
I didn’t get her cleaning genes.
My house often looks like someone just walked through throwing toys and papers into the air as they went. (Which is almost the case, of course, with my three kids.)
So when I was given the chance to review a Brother P-touch Label Maker, I was thrilled.
I immediately started to envision what I could do with it. Labels on storage bins, shelves and toy baskets will all help my family remember to put things back in the proper place.
I started playing with the P-Touch machine and immediately found all sorts of uses for labels.
The Brother P-Touch is really easy to use. I can pick the size and style of print I want and then just type away. If I want a fancier label, I can add a frame or just use one of the Auto Designs. It’s definitely the most user-friendly label maker I’ve ever used.
Here are a few of the labels I made before I was ready to tackle the cleaning.
My daughter knows her Right and Left, but can’t seem to tell which shoe is which. I printed out labels and stuck them on in less than a minute:
Although my kids are all expected to share their toys with each other, there are some items that we let them keep for themselves. I labeled our art supplies to help keep them separate (and so I can tell who isn’t putting their art suppies away after coloring).
There are a few items that I use for blogging that I always want to keep in my work area. We have similar items in the house, so it isn’t always easy to tell which items are my blogging supplies. I labeled each one so from now on it will be obvious.
And once I’d labeled everything in sight, it was time to start working on the cleaning and organizing. 🙂
Since my biggest problem right now is clothing, I labeled some huge bins to help me sort. I have one storage bin for my daughters’ outgrown clothes, one for my son’s outgrown clothes and one for mine. I’m planning to get everything organized and stack them in a closet until I have time to list and sell or donate each item.
The bins are ready and I can’t wait to get started!
I’ll be back in a couple of weeks to show you how my new Brother P-Touch Label Maker helps me get organized. Stay tuned!

I have had a Brother p-touch labeler for about 5 years now and I love it! I use it to label everything. Mine looks like a mini typewriter though.
this is a great way to keep organized
I love having the shoes labeled. I would have never thought of that but what a terrific idea. We have been wanting a label maker for awhile now. In our attic we have totes everywhere and we have to open to find what is in them and for what holiday. This would make life much easier
I have a label maker and am all but 100% sure it is a Brother. It’s in storage after a tornado pretty much completely ruined our home. We didn’t lose everything, we were able to salvage some stuff. But the structure of the house was compromised so the insurance company deemed it a total loss. The entire second floor was just gone and spread all over the state East of here. I’ve had items returned to me from over 185 miles away. Anyway, my label maker was in my bedroom and it was still there afterward, so it got shoved in a tote & packed off to storage. Can’t wait to find it again as our new home is built & we’ve moved in. I could really use that little booger right about now. lol :0)
Love this and need one so bad. I especially like the labeling of the bins in storage. So many times I have to go through each and every one of them before I find what I need. Why I never thought of this is beyond me!! LOL
Wow. I would love to have one of these to label my son’s things. He has a severe milk and peanut allergies.
This is an awesome Label maker that can really get a person organized at home and at the office! What a great way to let everyone know who’s is who’s and I can even label food items to let myself know when they were bought. I need to get one of these!
I need one of these desperately thanks for the blog post and all the great ideas
I need a label maker! I really want to get our house organized. You did a great job!
Wow, that’s what I need. And, it looks so easy. I love it!
My daughter was the same way about her shoes. What a neat idea. I could go to town with all the things that I need to label in my house. It would be awesome to have for our home office.
This would be awesome in my home office. Everything is so cluttered and unorganized right now, it drives me crazy!
This would be awesome for my daughters Scrapbooking.
This sounds wonderful. I’ve never had a label maker before. Thanks for sharing.
What great ideas you have to use the label maker on. You never realize you need one of these until you actually have one!
This looks very handy. I love all the different ways you used it.
This looks great for scrapbooking to I had not checked into using one of these but when writing names on the pages this would look great
I would love to have one of those! So much nicer than the tape and magic marker than I am using now! Perhaps would be a good “what I would like for my birthday” hint!
This is a great organizational tool that everyone should have. I remember the label makers from 25 years ago. Boy, they sure have come a long way!
I have a label maker and a very disorganized house. I think it’s time to actually start using it.
