Did you know that World Gratitude Day was a couple of weeks ago? I did, and have been thinking a lot lately about all of the things I’m thankful for in my life.
Because even though we all have wonderful things in our live that we’re grateful for, sometimes we take them for granted. We get caught up in the stress and worries of everyday life and don’t always stop to remember how lucky we are.
My life can be just as stressful as the next person’s. With three small kids, a house full of pets, and a husband who owns a small business and needs to work a lot, it seems like I’m often stretched a little thin. When you add my blogging work in, my days can become downright stressful.
But you know what’s funny?
Those things that can stress me out are all some of the things I’m most grateful for in my life.
My husband is a kind, supportive and hard-working man. Although his small business keeps him busy, I’m thankful that he has had the business for almost 15 years. It’s a blessing and a relief that we don’t have to worry about layoffs or unemployment and I remind myself to be very grateful for that.
Of course I’m grateful for my kids. I didn’t know what I wanted to be when I grew up, or even if I wanted to get married, but I’ve always known that I wanted children. Being a mother to three sweet, healthy children is something I’m thankful for every single day.
Our pets aren’t always easy to take care of. Whether it’s our older cat getting sick every time she eats, our youngest cat trying to sneak out the doors every time we go outside, or just the routine cleaning of the litter box, it’s not always fun having a lot of pets. But our cats bring us joy every day. They make us laugh when they’re playing and make us feel appreciated and loved when they’re purring on our laps. We’re thankful for the joy they all bring to us and to our children.
My work started as a fun pastime and has turned into a small business with many hours of work needed each week. And while I’m not always thrilled when I’m overextended, I am so thankful that I have enough work to keep me very, very busy. This little hobby that I love so much has turned into a blessing that helps us pay our bills every single month.
Lastly, when I’m tired from working a long day or stressed out from my daily responsibilities, I’m grateful for rest.
Deep, relaxing, reviving rest. When I climb into bed, I’m instantly more relaxed.
The reason?
My Nature’s Sleep mattress and pillows are super soft and luxurious, but still supportive enough to give me the perfect night’s sleep. I just sink into the softness and can feel my body relaxing.
In the past, I’ve always tossed and turned throughout the night, uncomfortable and restless. Now I sleep through the night on the perfect balance of cushiony and supportive softness. I absolutely love it!
When I’m waking refreshed in the morning, I slip my feet into my cozy Nature’s Sleep slippers for the perfect, comfortable start in the morning.

I know I stress more than I should. I just really want things to be great for my family and I worry so much about making it that way.
Great list. I laughed at being thankful for sleep – I can second and third that one for sure. But then, you know I go to bed with the chickens anyway lol
I’m right there with you, sleep and rest are extremely high up on my thankful list.
I’ve always been real grateful for sleep and now that I work in the city and have to catch an early train every morning, I’m even MORE grateful for a good night’s sleep than ever before.
What a great post. Sleep is never enough though but hey it’s better than when kids were babies.
Sleep. I’d be grateful for some sleep. I’ve been sick so it’s been hard to get back into my schedule.
I’d like to be a lot more grateful for a good night’s sleep but the truth is, I haven’t had one in a few years. Our wretched mattress just isn’t what it use to be and leaves me tossing all night because it makes my hips ache.
‘The things that can stress me out are all some of the things I’m most grateful for in my life.’ — YES, YES, YES! Funny how that works, isn’t it?!
Sometimes I have to take time to take care of me and my perspective is fresh again 🙂
Oh my goodness, a good night sleep is priceless. It certainly helps being grateful when you have a clear mind. I try to be grateful for the little things. It puts things in perspective!
I definitely agree with a lot of the things you’re thankful for are things I am thankful for! Family, Income, LIFE, all of that – and a peaceful night sleep!
There’s really nothing better than the feeling you get when you climb into your bed at night. I love my Nature’s Sleep mattress too!
I’m thankful for sleep all the time, especially on weekends when i’m thankful for an early rising husband
This is such a nice post. I think it’s easy to forget the things we should be thankful for.
I stress way too much too but I’m working on it. Purposefully working on simplifying my life. Thanks for the encouragement!
What a really nice post. Gratitude is something we should all think about more… NOW. I would love a comfy mattress like that!
I really want those slippers! Every pair I’ve looked at so far this year are SO HARD on the sole!
Beautiful post. Lately I have been working with my 7 year old on starting a gratitude journal. There’s a lot of mean stuff going on at school and though I want to know what’s going on I like her to focus on the good stuff. It’s a great habit for all of us to nurture… I cherish a good night’s sleep and that Nature’s Sleep bed set looks soooo inviting.!
I need a bed like this. I’m thankful for my family the time I have with them because of my blog. 🙂
A comfortable bed is definitely something to be thankful for!
I’m thankful for a lot of the same things, too. Sleep is high on my list as well, especially when I think of how many others don’t have a super comfortable bed to sleep in.
