For as long as I can remember, I have been a bit of a chicken when it comes to Halloween. I remember my friends wanting to dress up as grotesque zombies and horrific monsters every year. I always tried to convince them that things like cheerleaders and butterflies were a better choice. It seldom worked.
Not wanting to miss out on a chance to be with my friends though, I would eventually agree to trick or treat with them. Of course I’d have about 75 flashlights on me in an attempt to be able to see any sneak attack from a friend trying to scare me for laughs. That seldom worked either. Unfortunately for me, some friends just love to freak everyone else out.
Now that I’m a mother of three young children, I still seem to be the person loading up on lights for the Halloween festivities. Between wanting to be sure my children are safe and – even all these years later – not wanting to be scared by a sneak attack prankster, I make sure we all have plenty of lights when we hit the streets to do our trick or treating.
Thankfully, my children have not gotten into the stage of liking scary Halloween pranks yet – creepy costumes are another story. My children love trick-or-treating and I love seeing their excitement when they put on their costumes and head out.
This year, the kids will all be heading out to walk the neighborhood carrying portable lights. I got each child his or her own personal Energizer® light to wear as they trick-or-treat. I want them to be able to see where they are walking as they cross lawns and streets. More importantly, I want cars and other people to be able to see them clearly at night.
Two of the kids chose to carry the Energizer 2-in-1 Personal Light. It’s a hands-free light that comes on a long lanyard to wear around their necks as they walk. The new Energizer LED Magnet Light was my younger daughter’s choice to wear. We’ll secure it right on her costume or treat bag so she doesn’t have to hold it all night. Both lights are hands-free so the kids don’t have to worry about carrying them or losing them.
In addition to wayyyy too many Halloween decorations, I also put out Energizer LED Lights along the sidewalk this year.
I think they’ll be perfect for lighting our walkway to help keep little trick or treaters from tripping. I’ll also be able to see who’s coming and worry about opening the door to a crazy scary costume.
Whether you are gearing up for a fun night of trick or treating or just looking to add some light to your Halloween décor, check out all of the great options from Energizer.
