How to Throw the Perfect Barbie Party
When I was very young, I had a baby doll that I played with – meaning that I would pick it up from time to time and tuck it in for a nap – then to play with something else.
It wasn’t until I discovered Barbies at a friend’s house that I finally realized how amazing playing with dolls could actually be. That’s because, as everyone knows, Barbie is a doll but isn’t a baby. She can be a teen girl riding a horse and shopping for clothes. Or a successful scientist working on a complicated experiment. Barbie let my imagination stretch so much farther than little baby dolls ever did. With Barbie, I could imagine being whatever I wanted – a mother, a doctor, an astronaut. I could relate to her as a growing girl and imagine endless experiences when I played with her.
Now that I’m a mother with two girls of my own, I get to see them enjoying Barbie the same way I did. We have an enormous collection of Barbie dolls, accessories, and furniture that the kids love to play with. The girls will get all of the Barbie toys out and play for hours, creating different storylines with the dolls and interacting with the different dolls. I love to see them being so creative and imaginative while they create work, home, and social scenarios. The girls will even create mini-conflicts for Barbie, then work together to resolve the issue. It’s wonderful to see them practicing empathy, cooperation, and problem-solving while they enjoy playing together.
When we began planning my daughter’s birthday party this year, the theme was obvious – a would be perfect!
Barbie Party Supplies
We headed to our local Party City to see if there might be some fun Barbie items to decorate with and were thrilled to see what was available. There was a huge Barbie section with everything we could possibly want for the perfect Barbie party.
From plates and cups to banners and candles, there were so many fun to choose from! There were even Barbie game packs to use for activities during the party. I was able to buy everything we’d need from pre-party set up and decorations to the goody bags we’d hand out at the end of the party – all in one easy trip to Party City. It was quick, easy, and affordable – my kind of shopping trip!

The girls helped me hang up the decorations as we got ready for the party.
As we opened each item, I was so relieved to see that everything was easy to open, hang, or set out. I’ve had my share of parties in the past when I wasn’t even close to being ready when party time approached, so I loved having easy to use party items.
The set up for our Barbie party was a breeze and we were soon ready for the guests to arrive!
The kids had a great time playing the various Barbie games and party activities.
The kids loved being able to get glam with some Barbie accessories before they each played with a cool new Barbie!
When it was time for cake, my daughter got to blow out her very own Barbie candle, of course.
Before the guests left, we thanked them all for joining us and gave the girls their own Barbie goody bag.
We heard so many nice compliments about the party and the Barbie decorations as the parents were leaving.
The Barbie party was a hit!

this is a great idea, as a child I played with Barbies for years, with our mothers knitting clothes for Barbie and also it was fun to shop for special clothing with our allowance
