I can not believe Thanksgiving is less than a week away!! How did that happen so fast!?! It seems like it was JUST a few weeks ago that the kids were getting out for summer break! This year has certainly flown by. I am excited though – the holidays are my absolute favorite time of the year. Nothing makes me happier than my home filled with love and joy as we make memories with family and friends.
For as long as I can remember our holidays always really began on Thanksgiving morning. Sure, Mom may not have had the decorations up yet – but it was definitely the start of our holiday season. On Thanksgiving morning, we all got to start our day with a big cup of hot chocolate with marshmallows (and I put peppermint in mine!) all piled up on the couch to watch the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade. It was our family tradition every year to watch together before the craziness of preparing the big meal began.
Now that I am a Mom I have carried on that tradition. We make hot chocolate and snuggle with the kids in front of the fire while we watch the parade. Every year our favorite entertainers perform while we oooh and ahh at the enormous character balloons! I have always loved the original greats like the Pillsbury Doughboy™ and Charlie Brown, but my son is ecstatic to see his favorite Paw Patrol float down the streets of New York City. My husband loves the floats and how much work goes in to making each one absolutely spectacular. My daughters love watching the marching bands from all over the country and singing along with the latest popular artists.
Everyone’s favorite part of the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade, or course, is the arrival of the one and only Santa Claus! No matter how old the kids get, they always light up when old Kris Kringle appears.
This Thanksgiving, November 23rd, the 91st Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade® will once again march down the streets of New York City. There will be 3.5 million spectators with over 50 million viewers from around the country. Join the fun and tune in at 9am EST when they kick off with an all-star ensemble cast of celebrities from pop culture, stage and TV all singing and dancing together in an epic performance of Dancin’ in The Street! Gwen Stefani will even be performing White Christmas at the Bryant Park ice rink surrounded by fans and skaters. We can not wait!
Be sure to check your local listings to see when you can tune in so you don’t miss any of the fun! For fun details and facts about the parade, check out the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade website.
Happy Thanksgiving!
