When my husband and I bought my last car, we talked about whether or not we wanted to include a DVD player. We ended up deciding to go without a DVD player because the kids were young and we didn’t think they’d need entertainment in the car.
What we didn’t consider is how tied to our screens we all would become.
The kids all love to watch children’s shows on the iPad, play little learning games on our phones, and to watch cartoons and musicals together on our laptops. My husband and I both own our own businesses and need to stay connected throughout the day.
We also didn’t consider how many long road trips we make as a family. With my family ambassador trips, vacations and trips to see relatives, we’ve been on an out-of-state driving trip every month this year. Several of those trips were over 10 hours. All without WiFi.
Until now.
Now I have the AT&T Unite for GoPhone Wireless HotSpot.
I chose the Unite because I didn’t need a contract to go with it. With my travel and work schedule all over the place, I didn’t want to pay for service that I might not use. The prepaid convenience of the AT&T Unite for GoPhone gives me flexibility to pay for data when I need it, without having the commitment of a reoccurring monthly fee.
To test out our new hotspot, we decided to take the Unite on the road.
The Unite was easy to set up and I did it in minutes just before the trip. I went online on my laptop, set up my account and activated the device. We were ready to go!
We planned to travel through 3 states, for almost 10 hours, with all of our favorite tech devices.
Here are some things I learned about the AT&T Unite for GoPhone:
1. The Unite hotspot is seriously awesome. We had a perfect, clear signal for all of our tech devices the entire time we used it.
2. The Unite is really easy to use and to understand. The touchscreen makes using and managing the account and all connected devices simple and easy.
3. I thought I’d need to get everyone set up, but the kids were able to get the WiFi turned on themselves. The Unite network name and password is right on the front screen, which was really convenient.
4. I don’t read directions enough. Because of that, I did burn through some of my data without meaning to. So when you use your Unite hotspot, be sure to follow these tips: Turn off all the extra apps running on your devices. Turn off the devices (not just let them ‘sleep’) when not using them. Turn off the hotspot when not using it.
5. We could connect up to 10 devices! The most we used was 5 at once – a laptop, 3 phones and a tablet, but I love knowing I can use the hotspot on blogging trips and let others share it too.
6. The Unite hotspot can be used for up to 10 continuous hours. We didn’t use it for nearly that long, but had a clear, strong signal the entire time we used it. The Unite comes with a charging cord to recharge in between uses.
Love, love, love it!
I can’t believe I’ve waited this long to get my own hotspot!
Between the kids using it on vacations and the work I’ll be able to get done at conferences and on blogging trips, the Unite hotspot is a lifesaver!
No more paying crazy hotel fees for every device we need to use. No more dealing with horribly slow connections. No more worrying about security risks on public WiFi connections.
The AT&T Unite for GoPhone is exactly what we need!

Our family travels a lot and has looked at other carriers for HotSpot. The contract was always a barrier for us. It’s great to know AT&T has no contract. That’s a huge selling point for me.
I would so LOVE a mobile hotspot! There are times I need more than my phone while I am out and need my laptop.
I’ve considered getting my own hotspot. Its not yet a necessity for me though.
That is all kinds of awesome. I need that for when we go to New Hampshire and wifi is scarce.
Having to get online at any time is so very important with my job… This seems like an affordable and easy way to make sure this happens.
My husband bought me this for our summer travels so I could blog in the car the thousands of miles we drove. It was awesome! Worked great other than a few places way in the mountains there were dead zones it helped me get my deadlines done, etc.
We are getting to point were will need something like this. Everyone in my family is wanting to get on a device at the same time.
Oh my. We NEED Wi-Fi on the go! We take so many long car trips and my kids get a little bit fidgety and bored without it!
This sounds great. My family would totally benefit from having this. I’m going to look more into this.
I totally loved how reliable it is. It’s really perfect for traveling and I’ll never go without it again!
I love being able to have wifi wherever I am! Thanks for this info!

I plan to do a lot of traveling soon so it might be worth it for me to look into a hotspot like this and see how it compares to the price of using my phone.
This is very cool. Who doesn’t always need to be connected.
I’ve been thinking about getting my own Hotspot forever. I think you finally convinced me!
This is awesome! No more data rate charges!
That really sounds like a great little thing! I’ve seen them but didn’t have much need for one before now. It would definitely be convenient.
We travel a lot and could really use this! I am going to be telling my husband about this Hotspot when he gets home!
that is just awesome. And no contract! I would like that please!
As someone who travels a lot, this is really awesome! Especially no contract, that’s almost unheard of!
Sounds like a great plan to pay as you go for wi-fi. I would enjoy wi-fi in so many places.
I have gotten so spoiled traveling with a hotspot. I would really miss not having one. I love that you can get this with no contract!
This would be great for a road trip! I like that you can be flexible with the plan.
I could definitely use this! I am definitely going to be checking out the AT&T Unite! Thanks for sharing your great review of this device.
So, this is pretty awesome! I had no idea AT&T had something like this and I’m so excited to learn about it. Me thinks traveling with children just got a whole lot more awesome.
We needed this when we went to Disney. We stayed at Downtown Disney (across the street) and WiFi was free for three days only. We missed it after day 3, but didn’t want to pay for it since we were not in the hotel most of the day anyway.
I really need one of these! So many times I haven’t been able to work when I need to!
These are awesome! I just went on a trip and someone had one. Total lifesaver!
Wow, this is awesome! So many times I’ve been in a crunch and needed wifi. Would have been nice to have this!
This looks like a pretty neat device. I know I could use one.
I love the fact that there is no contract involved. Saves a lot of money and that way you only pay when you need to use it.
What a great gadget! Wifi is so important to work on the go!
I love having a Hotspot for my laptop, especially when I’m traveling. This sounds like a great product!
