There are a lot of children’s movies that have come out over the past few years. Although my husband and I love to take our kids to movies, many of those children’s movies don’t work for us. Some are fine for tweens, but inappropriate for little ones. Others seem to be more focused on girl or boy themes, so they are great for some of our kids, but not others.
One movie that ALL of my kids loved was Surf’s Up, a fun and funny animated movie about competitive penguin surfing that has been perfect for family movie nights.
When I found out that Surfs Up 2: WaveMania was coming out, I knew the kids would be excited!
To celebrate Surfs Up 2: WaveMania coming out on DVD & Digital January 17, we had the kids invite their friends over for a party. The kids all helped me choose treats and decorate for the party and couldn’t wait for the party to start!
As the kids arrived, they were all thrilled to see the goody bags and treats. They talked a little about the first Surf’s Up movie that they’d all seen before. They couldn’t wait to start the new movie!
After everyone had arrived, we put the movie on and the kids sat down to watch. The story follows Cody, Chicken Joe and Lani through an awesome adventure in the most legendary surfing spot on the planet. The friends meet the most radical surfing dream team, The Hang Five (voiced by WWE Superstars John Cena, Undertaker, Triple H, Paige and Mr. McMahon) and learn the meaning of teamwork during their journey.
I wasn’t sure if the parents would end up staying or dropping the kids off, but we had 3 moms end up staying. We all hung out in the kitchen and had a great time watching and laughing along with the kids. The story was great – exciting, funny, and with a wonderful message for the kids. We loved it!
After the movie was over, we all enjoyed cupcakes and chatted for a while. Everyone was talking and laughing about their favorite parts of the movie, and I was thrilled that it all went so well.
The kids all got gift bags with their own Surf’s Up 2: WaveMania and WWE swag and couldn’t wait to open them and play. They were a huge hit!
