Our kids are in a year-round school, so our summer break ended over a month ago. We packed as much travel as we could into their short time off from school, but look forward to another family trip over the Fall track-out next month.
In the meantime, we’ve found that the kids enjoy “staycations” when we aren’t able to travel out of town. We’ll pick somewhere local that looks fun and spend an afternoon or a short overnight trip there.
Last weekend, we decided to visit a children’s fun park in the city. The kids got to walk around different stations and choose the activities they wanted to participate in. Although there were lots of fun activities to choose from, there was one thing the kids had never done before.
Throwing glitter in the air.
They’ve glued glitter. They’ve even mixed glitter into play dough. But before last weekend, they’d never made such an enormous and fun mess with glitter.
The kids blew glitter and threw glitter and ended up with glitter in places we’re still finding. They absolutely loved it!
The kids had a ball choosing different colors of glitter and finding different ways to play with it, while I had a ball capturing all of the fun on my Panasonic LUMIX G7.
In the past, I would have lugged my big DSLR around all afternoon, then ended up with a decent shot that missed being the perfect shot by just fractions of a second.
Or I would have taken video on my phone. Which is very clearly video from a phone. Not great quality, and certainly not anything I can get a good still image from.
But now I never miss the perfect shot. With the LUMIX G7, I can record short 4K videos with up to 30 frames-per-second. Then I’m able to select the exact still shots that I want from the video.
It’s awesome!

I’ll be sharing the family experiences I capture with my Panasonic LUMIX G7 over the next few months, so be sure to stay tuned!
