We have a lot of favorite holiday traditions in my family. Some are traditions that my husband or I enjoyed growing up in our own families and some are new traditions that we’ve made together with our children.
And some traditions just seem to start on their own.
Like our cat Monkey “helping” with the Christmas tree. It’s not really help so much as clawing my hands to ribbons as I put the lights on the tree. Not my favorite tradition, but Monkey really seems to enjoy it.

There are the holiday traditions that we do before Christmas, like driving to see the pretty lights around our town. A few of the houses in our area are so beautiful this time of year, especially the old Mill House. The owners decorate the entire house, the trees around their lake and the entire drive to their front door.
When all of the lights are lit, it’s just magical!
.
We also love to take the kids to see the town’s Christmas parade. There are lots of fun floats, marching bands and fire trucks to watch. The highlight, of course, is always the last float to go by – with Santa waving and throwing candy for the kids.

And there is one last tradition that we do after Christmas. It might be the most favorite of all – sleeping under the Christmas tree.
Once Santa has come and gone and all of the presents are opened, the children love to fall asleep in front of the Christmas tree in our living room. It was something I always thought would be neat when I was a child and I love that my kids are able to do it every year.

There is one thing that all of these traditions have in common, of course. It’s family.
The most important thing is family, throughout the year and during the holidays. I get so much joy from spending time with my husband and children and to see them enjoying themselves.
That’s really what matters most – family.

The makers of TYLENOL® have created a wonderful campaign this holiday season to remind us of the importance of family. They’ve put a modern spin on the classic holiday painting Freedom From Want from Norman Rockwell. The image illustrates how families come together to celebrate .
If you’d love to share the message of family this holiday, we’d love for you to share or pin the image.
