One of my favorite things about summer is a cookout. Whether it’s a church potluck, a family cookout or just grilling on the back deck, it’s always a good time.
The weather is getting warmer now and the kids are tracking out of school, so we’re starting to transition to summer life. Enjoying the cooler evenings on the deck while we grill dinner.
We have our family favorites that the kids always want when we’re grilling out, but we also like to try fun new recipes too. I recently tried a new burger that was a hit and will probably be one of our go-to burgers for cookouts this summer – the Slaw Burger.
Now before you go thinking I mean a hamburger with some slaw on it, let me clarify.
This is a tangy, bold slaw burger with some heat! Not some namby-pamby pile ‘o slaw on a burger.
.
SLAW BURGERS
.
PREP TIME: 30 min | TOTAL TIME: 30 min
MAKES: 8 servings
.

2 lb. lean ground beef
2 tsp. garlic powder
¾ cup MIRACLE WHIP Dressing, divided
1 pkg. (14 oz.) coleslaw blend (cabbage slaw mix)
1 can (8 oz.) crushed pineapple in juice, drained
¼ cup thinly sliced red onions
2 tsp. Sriracha sauce (hot chili sauce)
8 hamburger buns
.
Directions
.
HEAT grill to medium heat.
MIX meat, garlic powder and 1/4 cup dressing just until blended; shape into 8 (1/2-inch-thick) patties. Grill 5 to 6 min. on each side or until done (160ºF).
COMBINE remaining dressing with all remaining ingredients except buns.
FILL buns with burgers and coleslaw.
Sounds awesome, doesn’t it? 🙂
Since we have some little ones who can’t handle much spice, I made some of the slaw to add to the top of the burgers.
Just mix everything together and top the burger like normal.
Soooo good!
