Back to school season is such a bittersweet time of year for me. I’m sad that the kids will be heading back to school everyday and that our vacation days together have come to an end. But it’s always fun to see how excited they are about getting back to school supplies picked out for the new year.
I remember clearly how much I loved the same thing.
I have wonderful memories of choosing a favorite outfit for the first day of school, of picking out a cool backpack and of buying all of the required school supplies. We’d make a list of everything we needed and would head to the stores for an afternoon of back to school shopping. It was such a fun time as a kid.
But now that I’m the adult, back-to-school shopping is totally different. While I love seeing the kids’ excitement as they get ready for a new year, I’m always shocked at how much money I spend on school supplies. Last year I spent over $300 on school supplies for my three children. In addition to the backpacks, lunchboxes, and water bottles that they each need, there are dozens of other school supplies required for school – everything from pencils and notebooks to huge binders and calculators.
This year, I decided to do a little homework before I shopped (Hehe. See what I did there?) I looked around to make sure I was getting the best price possible on our back-to-school supplies. Thankfully, I didn’t have to look far.
With a cool new Chrome extension from Wikibuy, I can check in seconds to see the best prices available online for each of the items I need. With smaller items, I found prices that saved me a dollar or two, but on some of the more expensive items like calculators and backpacks, I saved $6, $7, $8 and even more!
You can see part of my Wikibuy shopping list and see the differences in the prices. With Wikibuy, I can be sure that I’m getting the best deal possible. It is an easy way to save a LOT of money on back-to-school shopping!
