Not too long ago, I finished potty training my third child.
One might think that after successfully potty training my first two children, that the third child would be a snap, right? Unfortunately not. As you probably know, children are all different, and every child develops differently – physically, mentally and emotionally. These rules also apply when it comes time for potty training, so I had a different experience with each little one! It’s important to be a partner to each child – to work with them and help them as they try to tackle each new challenge that comes along. That’s why I love the new Pull-Ups® Potty Partnership. It’s a whole new way to train tailored to your child’s unique personality: Puppy, Bear Cub, Owl, Turtle or Squirrel. Before you start, it’s helpful to wait for signs that your child is ready to begin potty training. You want the journey to be a positive one for both of you, and you’ll have a better chance of success once your child is showing signs of potty training readiness.

When I noticed that my son was more interested in others going to the bathroom and started hiding when he planned to pee or poop in his diaper, I knew he was ready to start potty training.
As I talked to my son about potty training, I let him know that I was going to be his partner and help him throughout the entire journey. I was positive and patient, and paid attention to his reactions so I’d know what types of encouragements and rewards would help.
And, of course, I already knew from our experiences with my older daughters that we’d continue one aspect of potty training that had been very helpful for us – using Pull-Ups® Training Pants.
My son felt like a big boy wearing his Pull-Ups and knew that they were different from baby diapers. In fact, if I accidentally referred to needing more diapers or making sure my husband pack diapers for a trip, my son was very quick to point out that he wore big boy Pull-Ups and not diapers.
Pull-Ups Training Pants were easy for him to slide up and down, so he could do it himself in the bathroom. This really gave him the independence he wanted as a big kid. Ditching the diapers and sticking with Pull-Ups helped remind him of the new potty skills he was working so hard to learn.
Pull-Ups were a big part of him being proud of his potty training accomplishments. Because we worked together this same goal, our potty training was a success!
