Speed Clean the House – I’m sharing affresh® in my life as part of a sponsored series for Socialstars™ #affresh
Spring Cleaning is a wonderful time to really deep-clean the house and get those often neglected rooms cleaned out. We’ve got the windows open and are enjoying the fresh air. This is the perfect time of year for a good clean.
But with school track-out, family visiting and a long list of work tasks waiting, I don’t have time for a full spring clean right now.
Instead, I’m hitting the biggest “hot spots” in the house and knocking them out with some serious speed cleaning! I’ll get to that deep spring clean later, but for now, I thought I’d share my favorite speed cleaning tips.
SPEED CLEAN THE HOUSE – TIPS AND TRICKS
• Have all the supplies you’ll need ready before you begin. The vacuum should be out and waiting and your cleaning supplies should be in a portable basket or bucket that can be moved from room to room.
• Set a timer. You’ll be less likely to get caught up on the little things if you have a limited amount of time. Spend 10 minutes per room focusing on the big picture and getting the room cleaned.
• Have a bin or basket in the doorway. Anything that needs to go to another room can be put in the basket and then put away once all of the rooms are clean.
• To prevent backtracking, start on one side of the doorway to the room and work from the top down all the way around the room.
• In the bathroom and kitchen, spray surfaces with cleaner first. Let the cleaners work while you de-clutter and work on other areas.
• To dust window blinds, put a thick sock on your hand. Stretch your fingers out so the sock is touching the top of one blind and the bottom of another at the same time, then move the sock across to dust each level. For dusting furniture, use a dry microfiber cloth or a feather duster that attracts and holds dust. Us a long-arm duster for ceiling fans, mirrors and wall art.
• Vacuum the floor starting at the far wall and working toward the doorway. Use long strokes instead of going back and forth over and over.
• Don’t forget the appliances! Musty smells can lurk in the washing machine, those refrigerator drawers might start growing fuzz soon, and the disposal is starting to smell like something died. Make sure to wipe down and wipe out all accessible appliance areas, then use appliance cleaners for the areas you can’t access.

I love to speed clean i have a list of places in my home where i focus on
I really like the set a timer tip. I tend up getting side tracked and this would hold me more accountable.
This is a great strategy – it doesn’t seem overwhelming and that time consuming. I want to try affresh Disposal Cleaner!
I love the idea of tossing things in a basket to put away later. I always catch myself taking things in another room and then beginning to clean that room instead of finishing the room I’d started.
These are good ideas. I tackle a different chore a day besides the normal household chored so I stay ahead of it.
I do a lot of backtracking, hopefully these tricks will help
Sometimes I lose my sense of direction when cleaning.
Your tips are most helpful!
thank you
My least favorite thing to do is to clean the blinds – lol – I have way too many of them! My sunporch alone has 9 windows! But speed cleaning is right up my alley!!
I am going to use the idea of having a bin or basket in the doorway!!
my favorite is having a bin or basket by the door
Very helpful tips. When I'[m in a rush to clean, the “big picture” is exactly what I am going for, too.
I like these ideas, now if I could get the kids to stop speed messing.
if you want to speed clean, you can also put your baby down for a nap. Talk about trying to get it done before the “timer” goes off haha
Good tips to work top down and from fartherest point toward door.
Now I can do this! I usually end up overwhelmed by big tasks and get side tracked on menial tasks. Thank you for the advice!
A very comprehensive list; I so hate to dust. I make sure my dusting cloth is slightly damp so that it will grab the dust and not release it back in the air of the floor.
These are all great tips! I’ll definitely try your vacuuming tip next time!
I have never speed cleaned before. I will have to try this.
Sounds like a great idea
I like the idea of setting a timer for 10 minutes. And tips for non back tracking as i am guilty of!
Speed cleaning sounds like a great way to get some cleaning done.
Great ideas, I used to clean home with a service, and we did a lot of these.
Great ideas, I feel better when my house is clean but I don’t always have time to do a serious deep cleaning.
Great tips I need all the help I can get
I want to try that disposal cleaner!
I cut the house in 4 sections and i spend at least a hour in each section makng sure everything is wiped down clean
These are some great tips, I am always backtracking getting out one supply at at time. I will try getting everything together first!
I absolutely love the sock tip for blinds. I never thought of that one. I’ve either used wet rags which make a mess on the ends of them or those blind dusters you buy which are a real pain.
I need all the cleaning tips I can get.
I think the timer tip will help me the most. I tend to get distracted. I hate cleaning.
I’ve never heard of disposal cleaners-they sound like a great idea to keep it from smelling.
Very good tips. I do my bathrooms like that.
Those are good tips. I will definitely be using these, especially the one for the blinds and furniture
I need to heed your list of tips!
These are great tips. I sometimes have to get the family involved in quick cleaning when guests are coming and I always feel overwhelmed.
