Things are always pretty hectic around here these days. I cleaned the main areas of the house for Easter and haven’t been able to do much more than that. I’ve been wanting to get some serious Spring Cleaning done for a while, but am having to do it in small sections whenever I get a little time to clean. It’s taking a lot longer, but I’m finding small areas that I might normally overlook when moving on to the big projects.
My children’s bathroom is one of those small areas that might have been overlooked in the past. I keep the countertop and drawer fronts clean and we clean the toilet, tub and floor regularly. What I completely forgot about though, was inside the drawers.
This is horribly embarrassing, but this is what I found when I went to clean out the kids’ bathroom toothpaste and toothbrush drawer:
Ugh. I had no idea. The kids all get their toothbrushes out themselves and put the toothpaste on their brushes. My husband and/or I will come in the chat with them and make sure they’re brushing properly, but never paid much attention to how they put the brushes and toothpaste away. That definitely needs to change!
So I cleaned out the kids’ bathroom drawer and headed to WalMart to buy some nice, clean, new toothbrushes and toothpaste. Here are the Nickelodeon toothbrushes I chose from for the kids. My girls would both love Dora the Explorer toothbrushes and the baby would love Spongebob Squarepants. (He has no idea who Spongebob is, but thinks his face is funny.) 🙂
Next, I choose some new toothpaste for the kids.
The Dora toothpaste is perfect for the girls, but the baby is too young to use it. Instead, I pick out a toothpaste that’s specifically made for babies 2 and under that is safe to swallow.
I brought everything home and arranged it all in the drawer for the kids. They are going to be so excited tomorrow morning when they see their new toothbrushes and toothpastes in the nice, clean drawer!

[…] Mickey at A Helicopter Mom was able to clean the majority of the house before Easter and normally keeps the counters and floors of the bathrooms clean, what she didn’t realize – was how bad the inside of the bathroom drawers were! Especially the children’s bathroom! She found a mess in the toothbrush and toothpaste drawer. She headed to Walmart to restock on bathroom supplies. […]
