One of the things I love most about traveling is that I have an excuse to hunt down coffee shops in the city I am visiting. I absolutely love sitting in a little coffee shop in a new town, enjoying a hot, steaming cup of java. I have always wished I could have the same experience at home – which is why when I learned about Folgers teaming up with The Domestic Geek to create a “Coffeehouse at Home” guide, I couldn’t wait to check it out.
The new Folgers Coffeehouse Blend is a medium-dark roast coffee designed to give that great coffee taste for those who prefer their brew black, but also allows a strong coffee flavor even when you fix your joe up by adding creamer, sugar, or even flavors.
I have never understood why someone would want coffee… that does not TASTE like coffee! Folgers Coffeehouse Blend will help you achieve that fresh coffeehouse flavor whether you brew your coffee via automatic drip coffeemaker, French Press, Cold Brew or with K-Cup® pods right in the comfort of your own home. And with the Coffeehouse at Home Guide you can learn how to make the absolutely perfect cup – every time!
The Coffeehouse at Home guide has been so fun to use to create all of my favorite flavors at home. I feel like I am well on my way to being the at home barista I always wanted to be! The Coffeehouse at Home Guide is full of super simple tricks that work for anyone – regardless of how you take your coffee.
Like for instance, how to make cold brew coffee. I had no idea that you could actually brew coffee – without even using a coffeemaker – in the fridge. For cold brew coffee, I just fill my glass jar with coffee and water, then let it brew for 12-24 hours in the refrigerator. Crazy, right?
Once the coffee has brewed, I pour it through a strainer or cheesecloth and it’s ready to drink! The cold brew method extracts a bold flavor from the coffee, but has low acidity. It’s the perfect coffee to enjoy with a little sweetener and cream. So good!
I love an iced coffee to take along with me while I am doing carpool. Before I used to pour hot coffee over ice and just over-flavor it trying to make up for the watered down taste. The guide suggested I refrigerate my coffee before pouring over ice – I am a little embarrassed to admit I never thought of that before! They even suggest freezing your favorite brew in ice cube trays to be used anytime. Now I have been enjoying my icy goodness without having that watered down taste. How cool is that!?
Another thing I learned from the Coffeehouse at Home Guide was just exactly how much coffee to use to brew the perfect cup. Since I still prefer using an automatic drip coffeemaker most days, I have always kind of guessed at home much coffee grounds to use. The Coffeehouse at Home Guide told me exactly how much Folgers Coffeehouse Blend to use whether I was using the automatic drip coffeemaker, French Press, or Cold Brew.
I was most impressed with learning how to make Pour Over Coffee from the Coffeehouse at Home Guide. Pour Over Coffee lets you really experience the bold coffee flavor from your favorite Folgers blend. It was a unique process of pouring steaming hot water over the grounds just enough to moisten them and let them steep or “bloom.” It was really interesting to see how just brewing the grounds could taste so differently. Even though it takes a little bit of extra time, the Pour Over Coffee has become my favorite way to enjoy my coffee in the mornings. It is almost like those two minutes I spend just for me.
I am really enjoying learning how to use my French Press with the help of the Coffehouse at Home Guide! I will admit I had been a bit too intimidated to try it before, but the tips in the interactive guide helped give me the confidence to give it a go. It has become my husbands favorite way to take his morning coffee, since he likes a strong robust flavor.
Coffee is a huge part of my daily routine – whether I am enjoying a hot cup while reading a book to wake up first thing in the morning or brewing up my favorite iced coffee to take with my for carpool – and I love that with the new Folgers Coffehouse Blend and the help of the Coffeehouse at Home Guide I can have even the fanciest of flavors without losing the boldness of the coffeehouse flavor that I love. It is like I get to feel like I am on vacation every day!
